Obviously all on here didn't make their way to Omagh... Would you not think that the Tyrone Co. Board should apologise to all supporters who made their way up to Omagh this morning... Poor show.... upandcomingblue (Cavan) - Posts:6 - 26/02/2017 18:05:14 1961114 As much as I would have loved to have gone to this match and as a club Breifne member. I had a full fixture list on the 3G from 08-30 this morning to 1800hrs this evening. So a full day The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4602 - 26/02/2017 18:46:17 1961153 Link 0 |

So boys and girls. Donegal next!!!! I hate to admit it but I'm not confident at all. Donegal and Monaghan yesterday looked like seasoned pro's. A really young Donegal squad (a few which Cavan lads have beat over the years) fought and hassled until the bitter end. they seemed like a team that wanted to send out a message saying ''how dare you say we're going away''. they have an attitude of belief and confidence that they're a division 1 team and that's where they're going to stay. therein lies my fears for Cavan. Cavan just don't have that ruthlessness or single mindedness that this is where they belong!!! you might say early days, Maybe it is. i hope i'm wrong. theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 27/02/2017 17:27:08 1961727 Link 0 |

Both Donegal & Monaghan very impressive yesterday. Some of the Monaghan supporters reckon that we dragged them down to our level in our match but if that's what it takes that what we have to do to survive . Its not pretty but as we said before we just haven got the marquee forwards to rack up the scores when we do break up the field - so until such time as we do we just have to play to our strengths ie breaking up the play at every opportunity and hoping we get lucky enough times when we do get forward. tenyearplan (Cavan) - Posts: 149 - 27/02/2017 20:11:18 1961812 Link 0 |

You say how you feel and what you think... why would you need support?

I suppose the one thing to be optimistic about is the fact it's still in Cavans hands. But it's an uphill battle. I seen in Gaelic life last week they had all the stats regarding defence and attack including scores from play/ conceded, goals scored/ conceded, etc etc. Cavan are in the top regarding defense. But they don't even make the lists on the attacking stats. That is a worry. But as a previous poster mentioned. If Cavan can hold on and break up the flow of other teams play then we have a chance.

I think Saturday is d day for Cavan. Cavan simply can't afford to lose this game if are you stay in the division 1. Lose and I think the gap between Donegal and Monaghan would be too much. With trips to Tyrone,Mayo and Roscommon and a game against a wounded kingdom. Cavan simply have to win Saturday. shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1951 - 27/02/2017 22:02:56 1961875 Link 0 |

Sean - if thats the case, what time was the Cavan Co Final called off last year...it certainly wasn't 10:30 or 11:00 am.

I said before, it comes down to quality, ability and intelligence, which is lacking in a lot of Cavan players. Poor passing, poor decision making, over carrying, carrying the ball into tackles, poor tacking, no support for the man of the ball. The all goes back to club football, starting from underage, right up to Senior. You'll find that the majority of players on the top teams, all came from Senior Clubs within their Counties, and all played regular, competitive Senior League & Championship. I dont mean to sound critical of any player, but how can a player, playing intermediate or junior football test himself or improve himself week in week out against lesser competition. They then move onto the next stage of County Football, and find themselves up against lads who are playing regular senior club football. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 28/02/2017 10:04:20 1961941 Link 0 |

Good man Shaggy, back from killarney with a renewed sense if self worth I see. The main relegation contenders remain Roscommon Cavan and Monaghan though, maybe with Donegal dragged in. Ros are sinking fast and look to have last place to themselves. So assuming Monaghan beat Roscommon (big assumption given your capacity to fold when favourites) that leaves us needing 6 points. Cavan needing 6 more points. So yeah Donegal is the big one but we have enough to beat them despite their draw against Donegal. It is shaping up to be the ugliest match of the year but we won't worry about that. MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 493 - 28/02/2017 10:33:00 1961956 Link 0 |
