Best of luck to the lads today. Everyone is fretting over McManus, pull yourselves together lads, he's human afterall. Terrific player, arguably the best forward in the game, but this obsession that he's unmarkable and we may as well just resign ourselves to the fact he can't be stopped is laughable. Killian Clarke is more than able to do a job on him. Jason McLoughlin could do a job as well, I'm mystified that he can't make the team ahead of Gunner. Anyway, Mattie reckoned there were plenty of positives from the Dublin game. Lets see. Cavan by 4. Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 12/02/2017 11:31:25 1955063 Link 0 |

Strong wind blowing in Blane but bone dry conditions. Let's see some high ball dropped on top of GMac and the little wylie fella at full back. Goals for Cavan to see them home by 4 or 5 points. MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 493 - 12/02/2017 12:04:03 1955080 Link 0 |

I'd be very suprised if cavan win this very poor shooting in front of goal to my account 6 wides 7 into the keepers hands in first half not good enough will come back to bite them in the second half. Dantheman_95 (Cavan) - Posts: 6 - 12/02/2017 14:40:00 1955196 Link 0 |

Jon Smith it's a local derby it was bound to be low scoring and scrappy. Terry had a few chances to get something against monaghanand he didn't. He got out before he was put out! Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 12/02/2017 16:37:19 1955308 Link 0 |

Yeah Terry against Monaghan ... we all remember that... and against Tyrone.... and Roscommon.. his 3 favourite teams!

He did beat them in the league. If you looked at todays programme you'd have seen that.

That was one of the worst games of football I've ever had to endure. Heaven help us you'd see better quality in division 4. Today we witnessed division 1 standard players simply incapable of kicking a ball over the bar from well placed positions, again and again and again. I lost count of how many times we put the ball into Beggans hands. Monaghan didn't even get that far, which I suppose is testament to our good defence, but our attack is toothless. The best thing Mattie can do tonight is ring David Givney and ask him to come back. Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 12/02/2017 16:55:54 1955328 Link 2 |

He didn't beat any of them when it really mattered.. don't need a program .. just a memory.

Regardless you were still factually incorrect. You said he got nothing from Monaghan. He got a league win. Mattie got a draw and you praising him. Your agenda is turning you into hypocrite.

We need to get Mackey, Argue, McEnroe and Jack Brady back to fitness as soon as we possibly can. Don't know what the story is with Ray Galligan but if And as someone said earlier, get on the phone to the big Mountnugent man. We are throwing lads with no intercounty experience into the fray at vital times. We need to get more experience on the field. There'll be no comfort in having blooded a few players if we're relegated at the end of the league. Inactive x5 (Cavan) - Posts: 1452 - 12/02/2017 17:29:21 1955379 Link 1 |

If I was ever condemned to death by firing squad I'd ask for a few of our forwards to be on it. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 12/02/2017 17:33:45 1955386 Link 2 |

I'd have taken a draw against Monaghan this morning especially after they beat Mayo away last week. Yes we could have won it but it's early days yet. I'd say Mattie will bring players into the team as they are ready because he don't seem the type to have favourites unlike the last Manager. One of the biggest mysteries was how Jack Brady couldn't hold down a place last year as I feel him and Johnston could play well together. Looks like it could come down to us Donegal and Ros for the 2 relegation spots so it will be vital to beat both and maybe cause a shock or nick a point in one of the other games. 7 would definitely keep us up. 6 might not. Galligan is badly needed in goals. Again the one dimensional high kick outs that the Hughes boys cleaned up on. The full back line is very impressive so far especially faulkner today. McVeetys defensive work was class and his block was a joy to see. Midfield is a major problem. The shooting was atrocious. Why was Johnson taking a handy free on his wrong foot when two left footers in full forward line. Great point by Gearoid at end but not fully sharp yet. McDermot made a great impact as did Murray again and Madden. Felt Niall McKiernan should have being given longer. There is room for Dillon or Mackey maybe in full forward line. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 12/02/2017 19:01:44 1955497 Link 0 |

Niall Clerkin is a tidy footballer. Slotted in really well.
