I think McLoughlin should be in - he s an experienced county player . Also cant understand how Niall Clerkin gets in ahead of Paul O Connor - He played against Tyrone and did very little and didn't figure in the other two games at all. tenyearplan (Cavan) - Posts: 149 - 04/02/2017 19:21:35 1951873 Link 0 |

Whats the story with Argue , Dillon & Turlough Mooney - not even on the panel ( unless they re injured ) Argue was named at midfield for the first Mc Kenna Cup game but didn't play and has disappeared off the face of the earth since . tenyearplan (Cavan) - Posts:93 - 04/02/2017 19:21:35 1951873 The players you mention are there tenyearplan Argue and Mooney are both there but maybe not ready to play yet maybe Joe is part of the subs or he picked up an injury I am sure there are reasons for the starting fifteen and really if they are part of the senior panel they must be good enough to start. Not much point carrying baggage. My gut feeling there will at least be one change. Niall Clerkin is a quality player. I noticed in the UUJ match that Paul O'C picked up an injury and tried to work it off if you were at that match you might have noticed and it could well be a problem I don't know. My feeling is that there will be a few surprise changes tomorrow. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4602 - 04/02/2017 21:06:33 1951902 Link 0 |

On the eve of our first division one match for what seems a lifetime I just want to wish the players & management best wishes. Will be a huge occasion for all true breffni supporters & let's get behind our team from the start. I am surprised by the team listed & would anticipate positional switches & maybe some personal switches before throw in. My concern is where our scores is going to come from as based on the team listed only Johnsone, Mcdermott & mcveety seem likely to be on the scoresheet. Dubs have extremely strong team listed to start but let's express ourselves tomorrow as a team & county. There are 3 games in my opinion that can keep us in division 1 the games against Monaghan, Donegal & Roscommon. So let's be aggressive enthusiastic & intelligent tomorrow & whatever the result use it as platform for survival bond (Longford) - Posts: 174 - 04/02/2017 21:33:43 1951916 Link 0 |

I hope Cavan will be up for the Monaghan match for I have this down on my list for a draw. I also wish the team and management the best of luck tomorrow and please god they take something out of it. What is the point of naming a team and then making switches before throw in...? There is little chance the team Gavin picked will start and as Seanorinn stated there will be likely changes to the Cavan team...what is it all about..??? This sort of codology didn't go on years ago and is silly in my opinion... the supporters are the only ones been fooled Sean.66 (Cavan) - Posts: 293 - 04/02/2017 22:35:35 1951948 Link 1 |

McLoughlin an experienced county playet is not reason enough to start. Has to justify his place although I suspect he'll start. One Cavan player has had a tough week. Think that's what Sean O Rinn might be referring to.

Overall disappointed given that new manager promised attackin football. shannon414 (Cavan) - Posts: 228 - 05/02/2017 16:23:47 1952110 Link 0 |

Well now where do you start after that. Very little has changed. I'm not going to name any players but there was some shocking displays of stupidity today. Kicking free-kicks directly to an opponent, running down blind alleys, shooting from impossible positions, poor kick-outs, not challenging in midfield at all. Fully agree...there a few lads out there today that I hope I don't see out there again because they not county footballers no matter what way you dress it up. Thought we should have let the ball in quicker. Johnston got some great scores with very limited possession . Stephen Murray impressed greatly no reason why he won't keep his place. Did you enjoy the new attacking regime. New manager knows Cavan are not near good enough to go man to man with Dublin. Considering we played probably the greatest ever gaa team we should not be too upset. We have no top quality forwards so rely heavily on runners from deep. We need galligan back in goals. Rory Dunne is not a midfielder, should have put Corr in there. Backs did ok but hard to see us do anything when our forwards aren't fit to win their own ball. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 05/02/2017 17:19:57 1952170 Link 0 |

Disappointing result. I thought the team selection was bizarre? Rory Dunne midfield? Martin Reilly played down the middle? He's better on the wing. Anyone know is Niall Murray available this year? I thought young Clerkin was terrific. Tried hard and gave it everything. Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 05/02/2017 17:33:48 1952180 Link 0 |
