I think McLoughlin should be in - he s an experienced county player . Also cant understand how Niall Clerkin gets in ahead of Paul O Connor - He played against Tyrone and did very little and didn't figure in the other two games at all.
Whats the story with Argue , Dillon & Turlough Mooney - not even on the panel ( unless they re injured ) Argue was named at midfield for the first Mc Kenna Cup game but didn't play and has disappeared off the face of the earth since .

On the eve of our first division one match for what seems a lifetime I just want to wish the players & management best wishes. Will be a huge occasion for all true breffni supporters & let's get behind our team from the start. I am surprised by the team listed & would anticipate positional switches & maybe some personal switches before throw in. My concern is where our scores is going to come from as based on the team listed only Johnsone, Mcdermott & mcveety seem likely to be on the scoresheet. Dubs have extremely strong team listed to start but let's express ourselves tomorrow as a team & county. There are 3 games in my opinion that can keep us in division 1 the games against Monaghan, Donegal & Roscommon. So let's be aggressive enthusiastic & intelligent tomorrow & whatever the result use it as platform for survival

What is the point of naming a team and then making switches before throw in...? There is little chance the team Gavin picked will start and as Seanorinn stated there will be likely changes to the Cavan team...what is it all about..??? This sort of codology didn't go on years ago and is silly in my opinion... the supporters are the only ones been fooled

Sean66: if you read my post I said I suspect there will be at least one change this is from my observation so only my opinion as I am not pricy to what goes on in the boss's head.
So you will read I only said I expect at least one? and off course there are also 5 subs that can be used as well over the 70 minuets. Massive result for Monaghan last night so a chance for the underdogs yet today.

Overall disappointed given that new manager promised attackin football.
Very defensive so the full back line completely protected at the expense of playin with forwards.
I hope the young forward who went on and was taken of again was injured because taken him off with 4 mins to go was hatchet stuff and showed all the finesse of a 1980s unenlightened Junior B manager.
All in all subs were ineffective.
Where s Joe Dillon? Argue?
If we are in for 3-4 years of forwards been played that way we will never make progress. There are no forwards in Cavan as we now have club teams copycat the county style of play with 2 forwards and 13 defenders .
Defenders solo the ball to the 45 and lose it.
Look at Fermanagh last night.
Look at Monaghan.

All in all very depressing stuff. So much for the new dawn of attackin football.
If we are goin to do that why didn't we leave TH in place???

Well now where do you start after that. Very little has changed. I'm not going to name any players but there was some shocking displays of stupidity today. Kicking free-kicks directly to an opponent, running down blind alleys, shooting from impossible positions, poor kick-outs, not challenging in midfield at all.
We have not improved. It was like watching a Div 3 side pay a Div 1 side. I thought the new man would bring a bit of passion. Dublin didn't have to get out of second gear and played with the handbrake on for the entire match.
Very disappointing. If we continue in this vein we won't win a game or trouble any team in this division. Hopefully they will improve.
Great banter with the Dubs before the match. Great bunch of lads.

Disappointing result. I thought the team selection was bizarre? Rory Dunne midfield? Martin Reilly played down the middle? He's better on the wing. Anyone know is Niall Murray available this year? I thought young Clerkin was terrific. Tried hard and gave it everything.

Unfortunately some of our players have a penchant for making elementary mistakes. Time and time again, and when you play this level you get punished. Simple things like hand passing a ball on the run or kicking a free to a team mate. We messed up so many simple things.

Look, it was unlikely we were going to win that game under any circumstances, but we need a major lift in the performance if we're to beat Monaghan.
