A lot of negativity on here before a ball has even been thrown in in the league. I for one am excited about the new era. We have waited a long time to play in Div 1. All reports from the camp are positive about the new management players seem to be refreshed by the new ideas and style of football mattie wants to play, so maybe we should all just GO TO THE GAME give our support and not jump on the team and management if things dont go our way against the All Ireland Champions!!!

Can t wait to see Cavan v Dublin in Breffni. The huge crowds again. Disappointed we have nt more of the older players I hope they don t regret it as much as we do. Saying that teams are younger now & speed is the key. Talking to any ex player or supporter who attends games would pick T Corr all-day long. I see Mattie has chose other wise. The last few managers tried to bench him. It does nt work like that Mat! You ll learn...

We can't afford a sending off that's why mossy is not playing.
Clarke and Dunne selected for midfield? Can't see it . Dunne might swap with Faulkner.
McDermott is no Givney but he needs to win his Ball at the edge of the square if it's kicked into him. Maybe Moynagh and McCutcheon might switch too.

Interesting looking team selection if that's what starts. I like the look of the half forward line. While a bit light there's lots of energy in there. Midfield is different but experienced, powerful and could work well for the future depending on how Faulkner does at 3. It also gives us more options elsewhere if as someone pointed out, Mossy can be drafted back in here. Our half back line is still a major issue but I suppose it's as good as what we have available to us. Inside forwards have their work cut out but again it would be hard to pick a better lineup in the absence of Givney. All in all I'd say it's a good selection if not unsettled. He's left the door open for plenty of tweaking. Best of luck to all, here's hoping.

So, here we are at the start of the new league campaign. And on paper at least, Mattie is sticking with the principal of continuity-you take your chance and you hold the jersey. That's refreshing, albeit placing a lot of responsibility on a few inexperienced players.

Don't expect Dublin to be rusty. They have already spent a weekend in Carton house after their holiday, to focus on this campaign. Even though it's the first game, it's a touch start for us. My hope is that we perform to such an extent that leaves us with a healthy platform to build on, whatever the result. Best of luck to the lads.

Well this is going to be a baptism of fire of the highest degree. Dublin have quality all over the field and their 6 forwards are a scary prospect.

I don't agree that the named team in their named positions is our strongest team. I think Mossie Corr and Jason McLoughlin should be in the starting side. However Mattie's seeing how they're performing in training so he knows best!
Our inside forward line carries very little threat. Our two most important attacking players in Mackey and Gearoid aren't available and we don't have able replacements.

All things considered I'm expecting the worst. Our full back line looks weak and Dublin will show no mercy. If Mattie actually tries to go toe to toe with Dublin and exposes our defence... it'll be a long long evening in Breffni. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Dublin take this by 15 points or more.

If we're to make this hard for Dublin we need to keep up an almighty intensity for the full 70 minutes and be absolutely clinical in taking our chances.

Hopefully the lads can put in a performance that will give them heart going forward, this is the most fearsome side we will play this year and if we can stick with the Dubs and match them for periods, it will give us heart going forward into the rest of the campaign.

Best of luck to Mattie and the lads tomorrow!! Hopefully we can get a huge crowd out. Our last league game under Terry brought around 9 thousand, it would be great to top that tomorrow.
