I've respected all the managers decisions & will continue to do. Don't presume I'm a Longford man just because of my user name. Working a lifetime in Longford but a Cavan man true & true. My main worry Sean is that the UUJ mentors put on two class forwards in the second half against us and they seem to have walked through us scoring 9 points. The Div One teams have many class forwards and unless our defence tightens up considerably i'd have very serious worries.

Exciting times for Cavan football,great air of optimism and positivity from Mattie. How do posters on here feel we genuinely will do this weekend.Would it not be a great result to compete against Dublin and be within a couple of scores of them at final whistle.I.m sure the Dubs will start at least 8 or 9 of the All Ireland winning team.If we play well and compete well it augurs for a good league against the other teams.The Dubs will surely not be anywhere near up to speed just yet and the Cavan hunger in front of home crowd and live on tg4 might make for a cracker. Cannot even see a hope of Cavan winning this, However i do think they'll play well and try really hard!! But still lose by 6 or 7. My big worry is that could be onecessary of our best performances of the league campaign and we still lose. Likewise the mayo or kerry games. Hard to see us winning. People are saying Dublin will not have the big names out but that gives extra motivation to the Dublin players that will take the field. They are still a very talented group of footballers who have been on the periphery for a few years now and any chance they get to break into the team and show for management you would imagine they will try and take with both hands and stake a claim for the future. I'm normally an optimist but I can only see a heavy defeat on Sunday. Reason 1 I think the gung ho tactics are going to be a disaster as we will not be able to put adequate pressure on the dubs high up the field and they will run through our porous backline. Reason 2 where will our scores come from. If Johnston is our best forward then we are in bother as dubs won't give him a kick. In fairness Cavan are in division 1 and based on last years league they're there on merit. They failed to beat two ulster teams which came back to haunt us in the championship but we hope a new face in management will change that....... However it is worth noting that Cavan had on average 8-9 different scorers in every game last year. the day Monaghan played dublin they had 4 separate scorers with Mc Manus scoring 12 points. I know its a rise in standards but if Cavan keep the averages up around 16-17 points per game then I'd hope our defense can do a job at the other end. I guess we'll soon know

I assume that your not going then? Conor Madden scored 7 points in sigurson yesterday. Tom Hayes also scoring regularly. I rate Paul o Connor, Turlough Mooney, Seanie Johnston, Dara Mcvitty ect as well capable of hitting a few points. Some lads on here need to get a life or at least wait until the results come in before bashing the players who top scored in league last year and have won promotion to division one!!
