Hurling division 2 league final 2011

(Oldest Posts First)

So by taking the scenic route we have made it to the final. Certainly, Clare made it very difficult on themselves and bar Laois loosing to Carlow we would not have made it. Anyway, that is all in the past now!!!

Can anyone confirm when and where the final is on? I have heard rumors of Dublin on the Sunday of the May bank holiday (which in my mind would be a joke)!!

Have Clare much of a chance against a Limerick team that beat them well in February? My opinion is that the underdog tags will actually suit Clare. I am optimistic that Clare can get the win needed.

I am not sure what is wrong with both. I think I read somewhere that Honan was nursing an injury but not sure.

Of course we're happy, getting a home venue is a big plus.
In saying that, had we to travel to Limerick wouldn't have been that big a disadvantage as the Gaelic grounds is very close to a lot of Clare hurling clubs, and to be honest is very easy to get to for us.

Surely there'll be 10 to 15,000 at the game which should have a great atmosphere. Had the game been in Dublin, I doubt very much if many would travel.

Anybody read the clare champion today and sparrow saying there should be 12 teams in div1.. who are they?obv clare limerick possibly antrim and the 8 already there after that who? laois? or maybe just a weak team for fear that clare won't have anybody below them and end up in div 2 again

Clare got into Division 2 becuse they deserved to be put in there the year they got relegated.

The only thing I would change is to give division 2 teams a better chance to get promoted.
To achieve this I would like to see either of the below options used
[A] 2 teams get promoted/demoted -and had Laois beaten Carlow this year they would have come 2nd. This will give all the perceived weaker teams a better chance of getting promoted.
[B] The team who comes 2nd in Division 2 should play the team that comes 2nd last in Division 1 in a relegation/promotion play-off

In saying that, I'm really looking forward to Clare v Limerick in Ennis.
Last year we lost out to Wexford in Thurles in what was a very important match, but for some reason that game was very tame when we were expecting both teams to go hammer and thongs for it.
The fact the game will be in Ennis should add a real bite to the game and the atmosphere should be electric.
