How is the club championship going in all counties?
It is very hard to get updates from around the country.

In the Meath senior football championship, the last round of group games are set for next weekend. Donaghamore Ashbourne, Simonstown and Wolfe Tones (all unbeaten) top the three groups. Reigning champions Summerhill need to win the last game or they're out. I tip Simonstown to win it out. The overall standard is poor.

Meath SFC is suffering from same disease as Dub SHC! Too many meaningless games, hence the winners are not competitive in the provincials.

Its quarter-finals in the senior championship this weekend in Louth. The holders and the most successful club the Newtown Blues takes on last year Inter Champs the Geraldines. Cooley Kickhams who have not won the title since 1990 play the Dreadnotts who were beaten finalists in 2012. St Marys of Ardee play the Dundalk Gaels. Both of these will fancy their chances against each other and the tie of the round is St Patricks against Mattock Rangers. Since 2002 both of these clubs have won nine Joe Wards between them.

True enough hurlingdub and it gets underway in April and goes right through to October! There are probably too many teams in the grade for starters.

Toney they are the bookies favorites. The great Paddy Keenan will be out to get his sixth Joe Ward. The Pats were going for the three in a row last year and the Blues knocked them out after a replay in the semi-final . The two will meet again in the semies if they win their games.

Its down to the last four in the Louth senior championship this weekend. Up first on Saturday night is the Dreadnots from Clogherhead up against the Dundalk Gaels. The Gaels is the suprise pack this year. This is their first semi since 2002. The Dreadnots were beaten finalists only two years ago. Then on Sunday night is the big one. The Newtown Blues playing St Patricks. These two teams have won the last three championships between. The Pats won in 2011 and 2012. The Blues won it last year. The Blues stopped the Pats from doing the three in a row when they knocked them out at this stage last year after a replay. It should be another close affair.

In Tyrone it is a repeat of the 2005 Senior final Carrickmore v Omagh with Omagh slight favourites. The Intermediate Final is between Dungannon and Trillick a repeat of the 1986 Senior Championship Final which Trillick won after a replay.

In Antrim we are at the QF stage of the Senior football championship which are being played this weekend (only preliminary round played to date). As it stands the earliest the 'big 2' can meet i.e. Cargin and St Galls is the final and I don't see any other final pairing to be honest (you have to go back to 1998 to get a different winner) though anything can happen in Championship football.

Quarter Final pairings are:

St Johns v St Teresas
Creggan v St James, Aldergrove
St Pauls v St Galls
Cargin v Lamh Dhearg

In the Senior Hurling we have seen the dethroning of reigning Antrim Champions (winners for last 4 years) and previous All-Ireland winners, Loughgiel in the last round to Cushendall. The outright winner will probably come from the winner of the Cushendall/Dunloy pairing and if I had to stick my neck out would say Cushendall.

Semi Final pairings are:

Sarsfields v St Galls
Cushendall v Dunloy

In Laois, the powers that be weren't happy with our original senior football championship and have decided to scrap it and start again, thus making what was supposed to be round 3 now round 1! Ya couldn't make it up!!

We are at the semi final stage in Fermanagh where current champions Roslea meet Ederney in a repeat of last years semi final. The other semi final is between Devenish and Teemore. I would tip a Roslea Devenish final but when it comes to championship football who knows.

Its the Louth Junior Championship final today between the Oliver Plunketts from Drogheda and the Glen Emmetts from Tullyallen. Its a south Louth derby as they are neighbouring clubs and their pitches are less the two miles apart from each other. The Plunketts have not won this title since 1984 while the Emmetts won this title only two years ago.
