Hopefully the new selectors might build bridges and get Alan Forde back.

Your way off ziggy 5 better goalkeepers in meath ahead of him playing senior and way more experience , M. Brennan ( O Mahonys) D Quirke ( O Mahonys) Ahern ( Dunsaughlin) Nolan ( Wolfe Tones) O Connor( Dunboyne). 1 performance and we re picking a team for next year. Com 'on Paddy O Rourke is still one of the best in the country but any of the above would be streets ahead of Burlington.

Look at the question..

Micko likes younger players so I reckon Robbie has a chance to come in under O'Dowd,he may obviously but I think he has a chance..

I'd like to see a few nut jobs getting on the panel--when was the last time we saw a lad in a meath Jersey getting in a melee? Fire in the belly a la leader Byrne

Any good free takers? If we don't have a good deadball man we can forget about it

Goalkeepers play till 35-40 Brendan Murphy proved that, o rourke is about 27 don't worry about the goalkeeper ziggy. R Burlington has potential but never featured after minor. Why would mark McCabe have started ahead of him in previous rounds? If your looking to have a simonstown play force his way in next year, Kane , Conlon, mckeever, Nash could be well equipt to be coached to make a county set up over the next 2/3 seasons.

Nash & Rowe are still quite young but should be brought in and nurtured.

Mattimoe should certainly be on the panel anyway.

Interesting to observe that not one of the HS "team of the week" were on the county team versus Westmeath and Tyrone. It shows up these statements that you regularly hear that there are no other players outside the panel. In fairness to Mick O'Dowd he has tried a lot of players over the 3 years.

I think that players that are close to their peak age wise should generally be considered and very young players only if they are exceptional talents and/ or are physically strong. Sean Tobin probably should have been used more during this season.

Regarding new names, Alan Douglas and James Toher from Trim are worth considering in my opinion. Both are on the county hurling team.Chris O'Connor and Alan Forde should also be asked back again.

It is always interesting to see names being posted. Some of the names are not even playing well for their own clubs! There are better players inside the county than some on the county panel and players who perform in every match. There were players last year who were on the teams of the week a number of times but still not called up to panel. Some of the poster complain about the standard of senior football but appear to be unaware that intermediate and junior is a much lower standard-too many players being taken off the lower grades. Some posters appear to think that every player who plays county minor or county u21 should be called up to the senior panel and of course that makes little sense as most of them never reach county standard as players develop at different rates. I hope the new regime are able to look at club football, pick out the better players and I'm sure if they do that then 30% of the team will not come from a single club. The panel requires at least 2-3 more forwards and 4-5 new defenders.
