Kerry v Kildare

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Why change the structure??
Are you watching the Kildare Kerry match?
Did you see any of the following games?
Mayo v Sligo
Tyrone v Sligo
Tyrone v Tipp
Dublin v any team in Leinster
Donegal v Galway

They have all been pointless affairs
We're at a stage now where the championship doesn't start until the All Ireland semi-finals

Any team not in div1 I can't see them even giving kerry or dublin a challenge. Just look at the strength of the bench

That was unbelievable. Kerry didn't have to break sweat and they win by 27 points. Football can be a cruel game. But the strength of Kerry's panel is astonishing. Sam is heading south again.

Wouldn't matter if Kildare had 3 weeks to recover , Kerry were always going to win . Conceding 7 goals in second half is shameful , the big teams just get stronger every year . There has to be a two tier system unless the Gaa are happy with the same old teams winning year in year out

It is all very well calling for changes to the championship structure to prevent games like this but Kildare earned their spot in the quarter-final by beating Cork so what exactly could have been done differently? What logical system could there be that somehow decides that Cork are good enough to compete at the same level as Kerry but Kildare are not?

Yes PDempsey, it is now a 4 week season. No need for anyone to take an interest in the championship until mid August. Meanwhile rugby has the interest of sports fans for another 10 months. The GAA will be in serious trouble in a few years if the imbalance and the problems within the game itself, are not addressed.

I think we need a 3 tier championship. Look what Kildare done to Longford for example.

Nothing can be said for us today. I feel for the lads and management. They looked out on their feet and playing probably the best team in the country.

I don't think we gave up, Kerry just kept driving at us.

Kerry were always going to win but the the one week turnaround is to blame for the sheer size of the loss. Its been happening all championship Cork Kildare Laois. Donegal might prove me wrong next weekend. We'll see

The last time I saw such a beating live on T.v. was when Micheal Parkinson was mauled by Rod Hull and Emu

"The effort from the Kildare players is a disgrace"

I was watching it thinking the same but it just doesn't make sense. They've proven against Offaly and Cork (Longford not so much) that if nothing else they have pride and desire. The loss to the Dubs seems to have sparked it. For the first 15 mins they matched Kerry's intensity and dominated possession although they couldn't buy a score. So why the collapse?

I think it might be the cumulative effect of playing so many games. I wanna be clear ITS NOT THE REASON KERRY WON. THEYRE A BETTER TEAM. But when you start with less talented players, then give them less money for training, nutritionists, trainers, physios etc, then make them play more games, then put them up against better, fresher opponents then sometimes there'll be a collapse no matter how hard they try. In MMA they call it "gassing"

I hope Kerry fans don't think all Mayo fans are as negative about Kerry as JamesH. Some Mayo fans still can't get over last year. Majestic performance.

Fitz has them tugging on the leash. If any of them play badly, they're off. Hard on Kildare today... but there it is.

Let's see what happens now when the irresistible forces meet the immovable objects. I still fancy Mayo. It will all be won and lost on any given Sunday... as it should be!

I enjoyed watching Kerry yesterday it's not Kerry's fault Kildare are no good ,maybe playing on a smaller pitch might help the weaker teams against the top teams I think Meath would have given Kerry a better game yesterday and if the game was played in a phone box on trim gate street we could have won ,the next couple of games look tasty can't wait Kerry Dublin would be a great final come on Kerry ps anyone from Kerry when did Paul Galvin join the Taliban what's with the beard

I know Kerry scored 7 goals but the Kildare defending was calamitous at times. I wish Kildare would fall asunder like that when Meath play them. Whatever it is about them when the come up against vastly superior teams like Dublin and Kerry, they have absolutely no interest whatsoever. When it's a vulnerable team like Cork, they are able to raise their game.

It's amazing teams like Fermanagh and Kildare concoct all these tactics to try and stay competitive with the big teams yet go out and get the basics so horribly wrong. Like Mark Donnellan palming a ball he could have caught straight to a Kerry forward or Ciaran Fitzpatrick not getting a hand on the ball for Colm Cooper's second goal or the Fermanagh corner back standing a mile off Brogan for his goal. Some of the shooting and the passing is horrific too.

I actually think the worst team for this is Meath. I read the Meath forum and people go on about the manager? Paddy O'Rourke, Mickey Burke and Donnacha Tobin have to be three of the worst players for making basic mistakes. If teams like Meath or Kildare actually concentrated on getting the basics right and worried about the elaborate tactics after, they would avoid these humiliations.

The game doesn't prepare us for a difficult Ulster test.

Interestingly the Kerry hurlers beat Kildare 6-27 to 0-09 in the Ring semi-finals. Never would have imagined the footballers dishing out anything near that beating.

legendzxix - Will you ever be happy - You have 37 All-Irelands, you win a quarter final by 27pts and you are now favourites to win the All-Ireland again by the pundits.
