Derry v Down

Red card a joke unless there was something else?

Ref has killed the game.

Derry's game now.

After that peculiar sending off Down heads are, well, down.

Game gone extremely flat since the red. No life to it at all.

The only hope for the game is for Down to maybe get a goal to liven it up and bring it back from the dead.

Certainly didn't see anything in it, I'd imagine the umpires told the ref that the Down player struck. Bad call and poor reaction from the Derry player

Surely the Derry man is more to blame than the referee, did he really need the doctor to come on and check him out after the Down man placing his hand on his jaw? The umpires will have seen this incident out of the corner of their eye and have been fooled into thinking it was a proper punch by the Derry players reaction, yet straight away the referee gets the blame and the diver gets away with no criticism.

So almost decapitating someone is a yellow card but lightly pushing someone is a red?

A year of training to be ruined by a umpire and a ref neither look fit to be involved as u12s officials

why do we spend more time talking about referees these days than the action on the pitch?

Hope there was more to it than the push that led to the red card talk about soft , absolute joke if thats the case ,there is always one moron out there that will feel the need to inform us that you should raise your hands blah blah
Could inspire Down , but could have ruined the game .

Umpires over reacting to a dive which results in a red card.

If they don't clearly see a punch then it's a yellow at max. Otherwise a harmless slap will end in diving all over the place. Seen in hurling and football already this year.

Well done Derry. Just about deserved it. Down with some horrific shooting in second half

Close game alright but not very good imo.

Donegal will beat Derry easily enough in the semi-final.

Very poor quality second half. Derry don't look that great and they basically have 2 very good players and the rest of the teams are not great Armagh or Donegal (most likely Donegal) will destroy them in the semi final.

Competitive

Some nice scores in 1st half

Not so good in 2nd half but well done Derry

You're looking at filler teams in both Ulster and AI series

1/4 Final at best through back door for both counties

Where they'll be easily dispatched...

Officials are a bit of a joke in GAA nowadays. they have ruined many a game. I seen some really obvious fould not given in that game even though they were commited right under the refereee's nose. dangerous takles not punished severly enough and then a red card given for something the ref never seen but umpire in his wisdom thinks he knows what happened. There is nothing wrong with Gaelic Football apart from the officials not keeping pace with the game as it has developed.

Donegal will beat Derry easily enough in the semi-final.

Maybe show some respect for Armagh. The other SF slot remains up for grabs.
