Sledging has been going on for years

Cummiskey has never been able to hide his hatred for Tyrone. His disgraceful article aimed at a group of young lads after the 2013 AI minor final was as disgusting a piece of sporting journalism as I've ever read.

Didn't see much in that article that wasn't true, tbh. That particular Tyrone side exhibited some serious talent for cynical fouling and time-wasting in both their semi-final win over Roscommon and their final loss to Mayo. It goes on at senior level a lot these days, and I wouldn't exempt my own county from it, but it's quite unusual to see it at underage.

It wasn't elaborated on Wild pundit but all that was said to me was that the Tipp boys were giving plenty in the verbal department. I have no issue with sledging or verbals. It's all part and parcel of any sport. However you do expect a player to use his own moral compass when dishing out verbals. Can i ask what is the difference in verbals and sledging in your own opinion WP?

If it was not elaborated on then perhaps your so called reliable source is talking a whole load of nonsense. That's my opinion on that point you made.
I have an issue with sledging despite you mention it being part and parcel. It's not really sport if guys are sledging is it now ????

That's probably a key point you made what is the difference between a few verbals and sledging. At half time in the Tipp v Tyrone game we saw a little scuffle break out and there was probably a few verbals thrown. Who know's what was said it's anyone's guess. Don't think the moderator will allow them to be published if I say what I think would be said but you can probably guess yourself. However if anything was personal i.e. targeted at a players family , religion , sexual orientation , how they look etc then to me that is sledging where as if you just tell a lad to simply foff then that's just verbals.

You agree with the same ?????

No WP i think it depends on the player in question. Some people are more thick skinned than others. If some fella was telling me he was at my ma the other night i'd laugh at him and tell him to bring biscuits with him the next time he was calling over. However the tipp lads in the u21 final took this to heart a bit to much and this was classified as sledging. To me it's verbals.
So are you suggesting that the information i got was completely fabricated? I can assure you that this information is authentic. The tyrone lads took dogs abuse of the holier than thou tipp players on Saturday in the verbal department. I am sure the tyrone boys gave as good as they got but it's the sheer silence on hear condeming the Tipp lads is shocking.

I'm not arguing something was said or not said in a context of Saturdays game but your source is giving away very little.
Haven't heard anything from the Tyrone camp either which is very odd if such abuse was said to them.

Depends on the player I suppose and in what context of how deep they went to make such remarks to an opponent but if any opposition player ever mentioned my family on a football field I can tell ya they would be lucky to see the light of day again.

Since there is still some harping on over this U.21 Final many of those Tipp lads who played that final were playing Saturday so one can only assume some probably took upon themselves to get some type of revenge albeit against the wrong players given that it was a different grade. That's all I can say on this matter since our lads were told to stand up and be men and to take those verbals of whatever you call them with a pinch of salt.

Anyway I hope for the future of the game that if anything wrong was done by Tipp players i.e. sledging that Tyrone report it.I condone any type of sledging. My time on this topic is done I feel!!!Nothing more to add.

Stand up and be men eh? Take the verbals with a pinch of salt. What a load of rubbish. If anyone mentioned my family or anything like that on the field of play id tell the whole world, from the county board, to the media, facebook, twitter, the works. Let everyone know.
Remaining silent in the face of an injustice is NOT a sign of strength, it is a sign of weakness.

I'm all for sledging but we don't get much snow so it isn't worth buying a sleigh. Unless you're Santa!

Jon i think you are reading a bit to much into it. If some fella said he was at your mrs would it really annoy you?
