I think I understand the Kerry situation. But here's a question. Counties can't nominate a team if their championship isn't finished. Say the Kerry club championship is finished, but the main event, the senior championship, isn't. (Say for example that there's an objection to one of the semi-finals and so this weekend's final replay can't go ahead.) Can Kerry nominate club champions Dr Croke's for Munster? Is there anything to stop another county whose championship is delayed from declaring "Club XYZ won the Such-and-such Cup this year, and so they are our county's nominees for the provincial club championship"?

Yes you can nominate the current (last years champions) however once the county championship has been decided they will replace the nomineed club!!

Somebody was on this thread asking if clubs had won both Senior Hurling and Football in their county in the same year. Ahane won both titles in Limerick for five years in a row from 1935-1939.

That's a bit mad! And then you have the situation like the good old days in which a nominated club begins to represent the county, and then gets replaced midway through the competition by the new champions, if they haven't already been eliminated by then?!?

In other news, I see that Donegal's championship is in a spot of bother. In Naomh Conall's two-point semi-final defeat to Glenswilly, a player who was yellow- then black-carded left the pitch but was then replaced, his replacement going on to score one of the winning points. I heard on RnaG earlier today that the powers that be are meeting today at 3 to decide what happens next, and they mentioned a case in this year's Corn Uí Mhuirí down in Munster (a schools competition I think) where a replay was granted in similar (if not generally identical) circumstances. In any case, it was a referee error in the Donegal game, but what a howler it was too. The final is down for next Sunday with the winners representing Donegal in the Ulster club thing the following Sunday, but that could now be in doubt.

So for example, with the football here in Tipp. If Loughmore (last years winners) were nominated and won a Munster semi final and in the meantime Clonmel or somebody won the county final, its Clonmel who would play the Munster final?

My understanding is that you can no longer nominate a club to enter into the provincial competition if the county has not been finalised. This was done away with a number of years ago in Ulster definitely and I think that was a directive from HQ. Clubs were given deadlines by which they had to have their championships completed as well but that has been relaxed a small bit.

Is there fines for a county not having a team ready?
If so, Tipp could be in for a big one.

I just saw that the Kenmare vs Castlemartyr junior hurling game is fixed for Tralee on Sunday.
That seems a strange choice of venue given the distance from Kenmare to Tralee.

Ulster gets into full swing this weekend with some interesting ties. St Galls will fancy their chances of upsetting Clontibret but I cant see how they are going to deal with McManus. Cavan Gaels and Slaughtneil is very interesting Slaughtneils dual exertions will catch up with them eventually. Cross should win handy hope they get Vincents in all ireland would be a cracker

Cant believe Clontibret are favourites for this one, St Galls have a history and tradition of winning ulster titles. Clontibret 2/1 in the county final 13/5 against Kilcoo and now 8/11 or even money depends on the bookies against the best side they have faced in the last three matches. Hope Clontibret win be great for Monaghan football and also for a great club.

Clondalkindub: "The Leinster Final is on in Portlaois on November the 9th between Portlaois and Vincents".

One of them won't reach the final since they will most likely meet in the semi final as both are on the same side of the draw.

Surprised that Galls are not favourites against Clontibret. Likewise Stacks against Mid Kerry. Reckon they will finish it this week. Kilmacud 2/5 against Rathdowney which is a ridiculous price in my opinion.

Clondalkin, not in a final yet, that's not until 14 Dec or so.

Omagh can smell blood. Crossmaglen a point up but have had two players sent off. About 10 to go. Should be good.

Cross are a great club but this result will give the Ulster Club Championship a big boost. Cross sometimes get away with a lot of rough stuff and it's good to see a referee finally standing up to that.

What a great result for the Omagh men...so all this talk about crossmaglen being unbeatable proves to be a lot of hot air...great result for Tyrone football...Ronan o'neill delivering on his potential
