Hurling Q/f fixtures

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The QF never sell out even as a double header regardless of being staged in Thurles, Croke Park or Pairc Ui Chaoimh. I would have thought the Cork Co Board would have waited for Cork to play to open the ground but this stadium redevelopment is more for the rugby world cup and concerts rather than for Cork games.

The Munster Hurling Final has only sold out once since 2006 and that was in 2014 due to the limited capacity of Pairc Ui Chaoimh. It didn't sell out in 2013 even in Limerick. With the potential introduction of round robin games into the championship these games will rarely sell out again. Cork played Tipp in 2007 in a similar series on a Saturday evening in a half empty Semple Stadium. The games should be staged in Limerick and Nowlan Park.

I always grew up to believe that the next Saturday is the one that is coming next. To me that is on 15 July
Is Hogan Stand Admin so anglicized in their ways that they have to state in their headline that next Saturday, the one after the coming Saturday, is Saturday 22 July?
We are brainwashed with so much that is English I felt the need to write this.
While I am having my moan at Hogan Stand, you might consider deleting in correspondence to the Hogan Stand the name of Jesus when written in offensive ways to people like me who revere His name."
Nope the 15th is most definitely this Saturday! I've had this argument with many people over the years!

Replying To 1798man:  "Nowlan park has a capacity if 30k give or take. I think wexford and Waterford will bring that and possibly more to Cork so that will justify not playing it in kilkenny. Only other possible location would be thurles which in fairness would be a lot better with traffic coming from different angles.

A double header there would have been a disaster re tickets but I think users saying people are looking for things to complain about are spot on. I've never been to a game in cork before so happy enough for it to be there. Only fear is traffic but I'll make sure to leave early. Re the prices I got my ticket for 30e there this morning which is cheaper than the leinster final.

Just because it's cork people feel the need to complain but it makes a change from every match not in Croker being in thurles (slight exaggeration). However I do feel sorry for limerick as they do often get overlooked for big games and would be much better suited to tipp v clare. But they do have mayo cork on sat and did have a football semi a few years ago. The only neutral game I remember in wexford was wicklow v carlow years ago (not even an u21 semi or anything) so not every county benefits from being nicely located geographically."
thankfully we have 21s final at home so thats something to look forward to

bad on galway that their minors are playing qf in cork - both games should be limerick -seems supporters are down the list of considerations

People in Munster don't like going up to Croke Park all the time either. At least it's in the province. It's a once off and I think Limerick would have gotten tipp-Clare all being even. Over the next few years I could see an All Ireland semi being played there
