Hurling Q/f fixtures

Iv no problem going to cork this year because of the new stadium. It was always going to be on in Cork because the place cost 80 million and that has to be justified. It looks like a great stadium. There 'll be about 20,000 there maybe only 15 for the game max. Clare won't bring many. Stinker of a time..should be on at 1930 . TV is dictating the time...and that's a pity. Michael Duignans Dad will be throwing his flat cap to the ground in disgust ....the men of 1916 will the spinning in their graves again this week with the Saxons ruling over us with their Sky satellites..

Replying To Ban:  "Beyond silly having the Tipp/Clare game @3!

Surely in the interest of the fans this should have been in Limerick at either 2/4PM that Sunday.

Who actually makes these decisions?"
People usually say Cork get what they want so probably F.M.

i just made this point on the wexford board, but i feel the playing of these games in cork is going to backfire spectacularly for the gaa.
i work in the hospitality trade, and have came across a lot of people in the last 2 days, and the overwhelming attitude is "drive to cork, for 4-5 hours in match traffic, when the match is on tv,no thanks".
the gaa have shown no regard for the supporter,i cant for the life of me think why they couldnt play clare tipp in limerick (or cork if they had to) at 2pm on sunday, and wexford v waterford at 4pm in thurles,or vice versa.
i expect far smaller crowds than the gaa are anticipating,it is not an appealing thing to drive from the furthest extremeties of wexford to cork.

100% agree. Can't see huge crowds at either. Likely to get close to double if Tipp-Clare was in Limerick

lads its 35 euro for the stand for either of these Qfs-who do the gaa think they are?

it used to be 35 for the QF double header in thurles.

its an awful slap in the mouth to wexford and clare dragging them down to cork to pay for a white elephant

Nowlan Park and Limerick, 2 full houses, instead we have 2 half-full houses. Where is the logic?

It is not any of the 4 counties involved's fault Cork couldn't finish their stadium in time, would Cork drive to Wexford Park to open our stadium? The would in their *****

If it was on at 7 on Saturday it wouldn't be able to be shown on tv. Then people would be giving out that it's not on tv. Wexford people travelled in great numbers to Dublin and that was also a long round trip if you were in south Wexford. After spending so much money on PuC, they need to use it now. It's never going to be as convenient as Thurles in terms of being surrounded by many hurling counties. Only west Waterford and Cork and south tipp people it caters to really. Don't write off the Wexford supporters yet I think they will travel. The Clare Tipp game will have a smaller crowd because Clare have a small population anyway.

GAA fans must be the biggest bunch of moaners in the world. No matter where or what time a game is announced for they will find a reason to give out and cry disgrace grab all association etc. Last week before the venue was announced people were on here moaning that it was going to be a double header and how it was a disgrace because they couldn't get tickets. Then when they split the games up to cope with the demand everyone started finding other things to moan about - traffic, cost of tickets, location etc.

The new stadium in cork looks absolutely fantastic. It's brilliant that it is being properly opened with a real festival of hurling. Any big gaa fan would love their county to be involved at this time of year in such a big game and being given the honour of being involved in the opening of one of the best stadiums in the country.

If you are worried about the traffic go a bit earlier and make the most of the day in Cork. Its a great city and there will be plenty of buzz involved. Its a while since the 4 counties have played there so make the most of it.

Imagine if some of the people complaining about the drive and distance lived in a bigger country like England or America where matches were played much further away from home.

Time to look forward to the games instead of always crying and giving out.

I see the Tipperary propaganda machine is doing it's job well. Pairc Ui Chaoimh is also convenient for Limerick and Clare. Geographically Cork is centre in Munster with Clare and Kerry to the west, Tipperary and Waterford to the east and Limerick to the north.

1. Wexford would have had zero problem travelling to Thurles, and were expecting as much 1 1/2 hrs to Thurles, 2 hrs to Croke Park from most parts of Wexford, was all fine.
2. Splitting up the games to cope with demand was fine, but then you play them in a location which supports all the competing counties.
3. It is not much of a festival of hurling if the place is half-full twice.
4. "After spending so much money on PuC, they need to use it now" is besides the point and does not justify inconveniencing 40k supporters.

Of course Wexford will travel, as will the other counties, but just not in the same numbers as a hopping Nowlan Park would have had.

is there free parking in Cork on Saturday afternoon for the hurling fans or should I say is there anywhere to park in Cork on a Saturday afternoon ?

Nowlan park has a capacity if 30k give or take. I think wexford and Waterford will bring that and possibly more to Cork so that will justify not playing it in kilkenny. Only other possible location would be thurles which in fairness would be a lot better with traffic coming from different angles.

A double header there would have been a disaster re tickets but I think users saying people are looking for things to complain about are spot on. I've never been to a game in cork before so happy enough for it to be there. Only fear is traffic but I'll make sure to leave early. Re the prices I got my ticket for 30e there this morning which is cheaper than the leinster final.

Just because it's cork people feel the need to complain but it makes a change from every match not in Croker being in thurles (slight exaggeration). However I do feel sorry for limerick as they do often get overlooked for big games and would be much better suited to tipp v clare. But they do have mayo cork on sat and did have a football semi a few years ago. The only neutral game I remember in wexford was wicklow v carlow years ago (not even an u21 semi or anything) so not every county benefits from being nicely located geographically.

Geographically Cork is not the centre of Munster. That's the best one iv heard all day. The Munster council is in the most easily accessible place in Munster....roads wise..geographically. The only county that's out of the way from it is Waterford.

Clubs I assume are getting stand before public ordered stand with the club last night.

Caption on Hogan Stand reads: "Double-header confirmed for Páirc na hÉireann next Saturday"
I always grew up to believe that the next Saturday is the one that is coming next. To me that is on 15 July
Is Hogan Stand Admin so anglicized in their ways that they have to state in their headline that next Saturday, the one after the coming Saturday, is Saturday 22 July?
We are brainwashed with so much that is English I felt the need to write this.
While I am having my moan at Hogan Stand, you might consider deleting in correspondence to the Hogan Stand the name of Jesus when written in offensive ways to people like me who revere His name.

Galway Clare minor match fixed for before the Tipp Clare game. I can only assume they are giving the Galway minors a taste of things to come seen as the Galway county board have threatened to go to Munster.
