Reilly seemed to be in a bit of bother coming up to half time. He seemed to be limping heavily so I hope he's not out yet again.
Very good performance from Gillespie. His first halg point was an absolute beauty. Biggy did some trojan work tracking back which isn't what you would usually see from him. Great half from Menton and thought Joey Wallace did extremely well during his brief cameo.
Still problems to be sorted out though. Down broke through the defence far too easily at times and had they had shooting boots on, we could have been in trouble.

Still think that, like last year, a draw when we should have won will end up costing us promotion. Though I honestly can't see any teams in division 2 managing to stay in division 1 next year.

A great win for Meath and it sets up nicely for a last day battle with Cavan. Promation back on for the Royals. One thing I have to say fair play to Royaldunne for never giving up on his team. A staunch gaa man who loves his county. You have to admire someone like that.

Thought McEntee played well, made a few mistakes but kept trying. Harnan and Reilly put in great shifts in second half. Great to see G Reilly working so hard. Down did get through easily on more than one occasion. We gave away some very easy ball, but could see the confidence growing as game went on, should beat Cavan, but think we will remain in Div 2. Not the end of the world, will hopefully have learned from mistakes.

Kevin Reilly seemed to be in a bit of pain at end of first half. Hope its nothing serious

Cheers Ollie, your embarrassing me :).
I watch a few sports ive been to 3 premiership (or as it was called then div 1) and one international but i could never really get into it, same with rugby ill watch it if its on , but never go out of my way to watch. The gaa is in my blood, i live and breath football and a love for the royal that will be with me till the day i die. I travel the country to watch them, but ill watch any football match no matter who's playing as i think its a great spectacle, and as you know i even have a soft spot for the wee county. I just hope and pray we get promotion, all we can do is beat Cavan (wont be easy in itself) and then hope someone does us a huge favour.

just a question lot of people think we will beat cavan including myself but if we do beat them and say galway beat roscommon today which i think is very possible does that not put us through on score difference or does it go on head to head could someone please clear this up for me cause im not sure

If two teams are equal on league points - then the head to head result decides; if three or more teams are level on league points - then points (as in score) difference decides. We might as well wait until the result of the Galway / Roscommon match is known or your head might spin working out the various permutations. As of now, Meath beating Cavan and Laois getting a draw at least with Down in Newry is our best hope.

Yes Ziggy, that's the hard part.

If:
Meath Win - Down Draw or Lose vs. Laois - Meath Promoted.
Meath Win - Roscommon Draw or Lose vs. Westmeath - Meath Promoted.
Meath Win - Down Draw - Roscommon Win - All Level On League Points - Meath Promoted (and would almost certainly top the table) on Goal/Points Difference.

Glas

are you sure head to head comes before points difference this season?

Cavan (+3) have as much to play for as us. They actually drew with Roscommon (+1) so would probably just miss out to them on points difference if horror of horrors both won (given final score adjustments).

Ziggy, I haven't heard anything to the contrary from previous seasons. Great if it was then matters would be entirely in our own hands.

There's a lot of confusion about this head to head or points difference, I think glas is right with his thinking but there is a lot of people think otherwise, the GAA PR people could do with letting us all know for sure
