Lads will be going back training tonight with their eyes firmly focused on winning first game...or clemming some fella they don't like!

LMFM on the ball last night on the twitter machine, banged out the draws as they happened. The reception online was cat mind you for the live broadcast. Was easier
to follow on twitter...

How many qualify from each group?

Three qualify I think with the bottom team from each group going into a three way relegation play-off.

I think Dunderry gave a serious squad and will go close this year ! Beaten by Ballinlough in quarters last year by 2 points ...and could have won . A serious strike force with Kennelley
Coogan ,and Carty....will be interesting when bookies odds are out !

Are Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Cortown not in the same group? Think only 1 team from each group goes into the play-off.

3 from group A and 2 from groups B & C go directly into quarter finals. The 3 placed teams in B&C playoff for the final quarter final spot.

Sorry I meant the relegation play-off...its only 1 team from each group, not two from any group.

The indermediate yet again is the one where90% of teams have a great shout if they get a run together! Here is my reading on it.

Ratoath:A lot will depend on keeping their key players fit and playing all games, badly hampered last year with lads away for summer and wallace injured, there is no doubting they are the team to beat, up to themselves if they want it badly enough its there.
Castletown: Have been the team on a lot of peoples lips over the years, personally I think they have been at the feeding trough too many times. But they will be fancy themselves again and surely in with a decent shout.
Syddan: Dark horses to do well. Have a very good young panel and the Rowes will have a major say on how they will succeed.
Nobber: With Dudley Farrell in charge, they will give this a rattle. Favourable group and Alan and Brian Farrell playing all games will be a huge boost.
Drumbaragh: Still a bit green at this stage, will need all players as seem slightly weakened for numbers. A lot will depend on McNamaras fitness.
Kilmainham: Very strong down the centre, not so much so in other areas. Have the unmarkable Mickey newman at the level who will get 80% of the scores but it wont be enough.
St Michaels: Big year for club as the continue to rebuild. Lot of youth that need to stand up and be counted. I would consider these as a quarter finalist at least, very quick up front with a strong midfield but will be found out at the back.
Dunderry: With Kinnelly and Coogan they have an excellent chance in every game. I would question the depth of their squad if anyone gets injured have they the talent to replace whats on the pitch?
Saint Colmcilles: Like Castletown, they have been on a lot of peoples radar. But I feel they have a serious chance as they have a superior fitness to most teams in this grade. If they click they play as close to a senior team to most at this grade. Favourable group will help too.
Ashbourne: Will struggle this year with their second string.
Clann Na Gael: Will again rely on Woods and Geraghty but I believe they missed the boat 2 years ago and havent kicked on.
Cortown: Will have to dig really deep in this group. They wont be found wanting for will to win but they will be leak scores.
Ballivor:Probably over achieved a little last year, but they have a decent side when everyone is available, will be a middle team.
Ballinabrackey: A team that plays defensively and so far hasnt paid off. An abundance of talent up front if they played more direct football they could be more effective, cant see them challenging.
Longwood: The obvious thing to do is to write them off as Rory Maguire has left for pastures new, but they wont feel this way, will kep plugging away as normal. They will be without Burke for most games so I feel untimately their form going into championship will not be as it should be. Will struggle this year to get back on feet.
Oldcastle: Completely new year and new team. Rebuilding starts for Oldcastle, they will see it as an opportuntiy to take the intermediate by storm. I see it as a settling year for them where they will build for next year.
Trim: Have a young fast team that will catch a lot of teams out. I expect them to mount a decent challenge this year.
St Ultans: Got a very tough draw in the groups. Very reliant still on Cian Rennicks, after him I cant see too many scores.

Come the business end of the championship, I expect to see St Colmcilles, Ratoath, Castletown and St michaels battling it out! Any major player getting injured or mossing for any of these teams will ultimately result in their team mising out on the glory!
Looking forward to what should be an open and exciting championship!

Dunderry lost by 4 points 1-12 to 0-11, their starting 15 ain't bad but they have a very average bench and their big problem is trying to keep kenneally fit who's only back from injury

It wil be an interesting weekend in the league with
Ratoath -v- Castletown
Nobber -v- Cortown
Drumbaragh -v- St. Colmcilles
all playing each other and due to meet in the championship later on in the year. Interesting to see if teams will look to lay down a marker or maybe try to hide their hand a little??!!

This will be the year for Ratoath, they had a few problems last year with management stuff, and are an extra year experienced, plus E.Wallace is back.

I have mulled over the draws for a few weeks and you for once are right Lurch indeed we have a tough draw, our early season form is poor and methinks maybe the Daddies have shot their bolt, the most constistant team in Intermediate for a good number of years since playing in the Final in 2007.

By the looks of it the 3 Semi Final losses have taken its toll but tis early yet....

As for your own boys I took a preview of them in the early match last Sunday, while ye won easy Bracks had plenty of luck with both goals and got whatever was in it from the Ref who inexplicatly disallowed a Drumconrath goal. All said ye where well the better team but I expect Second Season Blues to hit the Bracks this year.
If Ratoath;
1 want it
2 have it in the Belly to win it
3.cut out thinking they are too good for a grade they so far they cannot win
4 they will not be stopped

But if any of the 1st 3 are missing they will once again be the nearly men....

I agree totally with you Glenny on your four points about Ratoath But I think with the team a year older average age is still only about 22or23 they are now ready to fulfil their potential
I can safely say do not think they are to good for this grade and Hugh kenny is a serious operator the mood in the camp is one of determination and hard work not cockiness also the development of Brian McMahon, Brian Power,Conor McGill, Joey Wallace, Eamon Wallace on county team and others like Bobby o Brien, Gavin mcGown and Cian O Brien there is a great platform to get over the line this year after the disappoint of previous years but it's championship football and every team is working hard and have talented players so noting is garrenteed
