Intermediate championship 2015

Noticed Trim beat CNG yesterday in the cup games. That's a good result for them as they were missing 3 of their main players to the hurling in Toher, Douglas and Joyce. Can only be a good sign for them.

In relation to everyones post above, Totally agree that Ratho are in pole position this year and they should have far too much in the tank for this grade, although it will be interesting to see if they have found some bottle which has been missing

What I mean is that Ballinabrackey while they got into Intermediate in 2011 were really fluting around playing defensive (which is their right to do so) and no one really taught they would ever do that well

BUT in 2014 THEY suprised everyone except maybe themselves by making the Intermediate Final.

This year I reckon people will be watching them and therefore I nominate them for the second season symdrome and not to do well...

Meade Potato IFC
Dunderry v Ballivor; Two poor sides neither going anywhere maybe a draw

Ballinabrackey v St.Colmcilles; This will be a tight one Bracks will defend Cilles will attack. Cilles may win

Saturday 11 April
Meade Potato IFC
Cortown v Clann na nGael; Cortown back in Intermediate League has not gone well for them. But its hard to back against them. They will be up for this but Athboy might edge it

D/Ashbourne v Kilmainham; Kilmainham will find it hard here Don/Ash will test them and perhaps beat them.

Sunday 12 April

Meade Potato IFC
St.Michaels v Nobber; This will be some battle, Nobber have got some good results but so have Michaels, Michaels are young and light Nobber have more power. Power might win out but not by much.

St.Ultans v Castletown; Castletown are in free fall 3 long years getting bet in Semis has hit hard. Ultans are on the up hardly good enough to take the Mattie McDonnell. Head says Ultans but my heart is in Castletown and I give my vote to them.

Ratoath v Trim; Reckon Ratoath will come out like a shot from a gun and will take this one

Oldcastle v Drumbaragh; Oldcastle pulled a win out of nowhere in last round of the League. They will battle hard here as they will not like to lose to Drumbaragh but lose they will

Syddan v Longwood; Longwood are in trouble and Syddan by 6 or 7

Dunderry v Ballivor - Ballivor win

Ballinabrackey v St.Colmcilles - Interesting game! very tough to predict, both sides could be a serious threat in this championship, the "Bracks" to win

Cortown v Clann Na Gael - Clann Na Gael, but close

D/Ash v Kilmainham - Kilmainham will need Michael Newman on form,Ash are decent, but I think they may lose this one.

St.Michaels v Nobber - Nobber to win this

St.Ultans v Castletown - I think Ultans may win this game

Ratoath v Trim - tough ask for Trim, has to be Ratoath and easily too..

Oldcastle v Drumbaragh - relegated last year,I don't really see them as a threat but Oldcastle will win this game

Syddan v Longwood - Are Syddan a potential threat for the champ? Anyway only one winner here.

IFC:
Dunderry v Ballivor: Hard to know with Ballivor how they'll do. It depends on how serious they take it with the hurling. Dunderry consistently fail to deliver although they pushed Ballinlough in the QF last year. They're doing worse than expected in Div 3 while Ballivor are struggling in Div 4 league losing to a Junior B club. Going by that Dunderry should win - DUNDERRY

Ballinabrackey v St. Colmcille's: Tie of the round in Skryne. Cille's are big underachievers in the last 10 years while the Bracks have proved themselves as contenders in the last 2/3 years. The Cille's usually do well in the groups so they just get the nod in a tight game - ST. COLMCILLE'S

Cortown v Clann na nGael: How this game is in Navan is beyond me. Clanns arn't the team they were two years ago but they're competing well in Div 3. Cortown will find it tough in this grade and they havn't won a game this year yet although they're in the easiest of the 3 groups - CLANN NA NGAEL

Donaghmore/Ashbourne v Kilmainham: D/A's team depends on how the seniors do. Kilmainham achieved their goal of staying up last year and showed how they over rely on Mickey Newman. They should probably edge this one though - KILMAINHAM

St. Michael's v Nobber: North Meath derby in Drumconrath. Both had disappointing seasons last year but both doing well in the league this year. Nobber seem to be on an upward curve with Dudley Farrell at the helm. Both clubs should have no problem getting through the group. A draw isn't beyond doubt but Nobber may shade it - NOBBER

St. Ultan's v Castletown: Ultan's are improving while Castletown seem to be hurting from losing 3 semi-finals in as many years with 0 wins from 4 in Div 2. Neither will make the knockouts in a very tough group but Castletown will win here.

Ratoath v Trim: This should be the year Ratoath progress to senior. They've been hot favourites the last 2 years but have failed to deliver down to bad luck (O'Brien injury & Wallace suspension in 2013) and complacancy last year. Having Wallace back from injury this year is a huge plus. They have all the talent and should beat Trim who are no pushovers themselves - RATOATH

Oldcastle v Drumbaragh: Relegated senior teams tend to do poorly in their first year back Intermediate, bar Trim a few years ago. Drumbaragh are no pushovers so Oldcastle shouldn't under estimate them. It'll be a bruising dog fight that could be a draw but Drumbaragh could edge it - DRUMBARAGH.

Syddan v Longwood: Arguably the second favourites after Ratoath, Syddan should get off to a good start here. They have a young team with lots of talent that can replace older lads like the Dillons. Longwood have done poorly recently in c'ship and could get a hiding here. Syddan threw it away against Ratoath in last years QF but will come back strong this year - SYDDAN

Going against your own team, interesting lutchie boy??

Ah we are like the race horse hurricane fly bullet......we only go on certain ground :) :)

We do hit form around round 3 and push on from there, bracks will reach knockout and probably only team capable of beating ratoath in this grade.Saying that with 5 meath senior footballers you would imagine they should be winning pulling up.

I agree Ratoath should win the championship at a canter but as the old saying goes - one swallow does not a summer make.

Expect Trim to give them a good physical test with plenty of youth coming through.

TheLutch Surely The Bracks are Favourites, Finalists last year . Semi the year before that . . Every player that bit stronger
They know how to get through the tight games e.g Ratoath last year in Semi . . Think its a year too soon for us , Very young team
and at this level you need a bit of experience and know how

Went along to Skryne to watch the IFC game... Cilles looked the real deal strong in defense good around the middle, me ole mate Biggie too hot to handle at this level, decent free taker and a young sub that looked really good up front.

Bracks where a shambles but thats nothing new early on as they will improve, but they seemed light and way off the pace, with Danny Quinn the only real threat but the Cilles defense handled him as he had little help. Bracks could have been closer but crazyily kick a bunch of late frees into the square in a ral lump it in and we see job. Strange as they are usually organised and know what they about.

Yea agree, think cilles will be the team to beat with a couple of young lads coming through sheerin back in midfield he was a big miss last year and then the addition on Niall Ronan will be priceless what he will bring not only on the pitch but off it,
In fairness lutch predicted this result so read what you want into that bracks will still get out of the group..

Cillies are not really all that great to be fair and I don't think they are as good as people are saying. Bracks were awful, bad decisions and lacklustre all over the but they will improve terrible game really but it is early doors.
