At least we have 2 weeks to prepare now instead of having to play this saturday because I don't think the lads would have been up for that, very hard to bounce back straight away after a devastating defeat like that.

Think it will be hard to bounce back after that defeat at least there's a two week break gives the team time to prepare being honest mid field very bad Meath never took off from the start

Watch it all. As soon as he pulls ogara off reilly he has his arm around ogaras neck, ogara bites down on his hand. Burkes reaction is understandable and he throws a few swipes, but almost none of them land. There's not a clean strike in the whole thing.

Be absolutely amazed if Burke gets anything more than a tetanus out of this.

Curran was promised a run out against Carlow and he never got it.

It seemed odd what happened Curran as he started a lot of the League games yet didn't feature in the Carlow game. However if he left the panel because of that, then he's probably not what was needed either.

A lot of people saying play Keoghan in his best position. Did he not play the entire game in the full-back line yesterday. I know he wore six and made a few raids up the field but he marked Brogan (a corner-forward) for most the game. I wouldn't have strong opinion where Keoghan should play but I would like to see him mark the opposition danger man. For the next day, he should be marking Jamie Clarke.

Also Menton has been struggling for a while in my opinion. Great prospect a few years ago but he was left for dead a few times yesterday and his effort at tackling was tame enough. An element of him not having his own position is due to him struggling in all the ones he's asked to play in.

David Bray has a sweet left foot but he's not near as fast as his brother. Stephen is a great ball winner and a great man to get out in front. I don't see that with David. His injuries probably haven't helped.

I think there should be a few changes for the next game. One change I certainly wouldn't be making is Newman going into midfield. Seriously, he caught a couple of kick-outs practically uncontested and people want him to play him to play midfield now. Leave him in the full-forward line where he has always played for Meath all his underage and senior career.

I see that tickets are now on sale for this match but as with our qualifier against Tyrone last year the Hill it seems will not be open. The only matches this year that the hill has been opened in are when Dublin are involved. I think it's a bit unfair that we have to shell out for the more expensive tickets for matches in Croke Park.

Midfield options are very limited. We wont cement Newman into midfield, and can always revert to forwards if deemed appropriate at any time. Maybe just give him a roving commission for a while ? Nothing ventured nothing gained

Burke was yellow carded for his part in incident so I think he is ok. But when whole melee is reviewed Tormey may be in trouble. Trouble of our own causing, how many wrong calls can one man make in a game?

I watch a good bit of meath club football and i am yet to see a better footballer in meath than Jamie Queeney. How he is not on the panel is beyond me

But Queeney never did it at county level..

Queeney would be a good sub and I can't look at that half back line and not think that Chris O'Connor is sorely missed.
But we are where we are, I wouldn't play Harrington in this game. Never has a qualifier held so much importance IMO.

Win this and we achieve what we wanted. A last 8 spot. All is not lost even though the future looks very bleak. Chin up lads and lasses.

Hope we raise our game against Armagh. I'd give us a 50/50 chance all things being equal but with them having momentum and us not, have to make them favourites. Lot of lads need to redeem there pride after the last day.

Jumping the gun completely (and this is in the context of saying armagh will probably beat us), if we did manage to beat armagh id fancy our chances against donegal. All ireland semi against dublin...dont fancy another mauling.

Anyway for Armagh...

1. P. O'Rourke

2. Keoghan (he's probably one of the best corner backs in the country. Play him there)
3. K. Reilly (one of the few players who came out with credit last sunday)
4. Harnan (thought he was unlucky against Dublin in that no one supported him on mcmanniman)

5. Young (deservers a pop here I think)
6. Tobin (Probably our best player against dublin)
7. Carroll (actually think this is his most effective position.

8.Menton (hate to keep moving him but he's not a corner back. Either centre back or midfield for me)
9 Tormey (another who was quite good versus dublin, probably our player of the year so far)

10. McDonagh (give him another go)
11.S. O'Rourke (felt sorry for him sunday, clearly not fit enough for midfield, start him at centre forward, switch him with newman as he gets tired, we might get 70 mins out of him then).
12. McMahon (deservers another go)

13. Seamus Kenny (I think we need his grit, play him as a roaming player picking up breaks, dropping deep when we need him. graham Reilly has had man chances in croke park and not delivered, he's living on past glory).

14. S. Bray (had no support against Dublin but has to start)
15. Newman (shooting was terrible, but has to start, for me it needs to be corner forward too)

Subs
Burke, nice to bring on for a shamozzle
David Bray - probably close to a start
Meade - bring on for kenny when he's spent to roam around.
Graham Reilly - maybe dropping will make him a better impact sub

Please don't use:
Joey Wallace - he's a really honest lad but probably shouuldn't be on the panel for anothe year or two.
Harrington to me is areally honest player but dont think he's up to it in the corner. Maybe centre back if we're stuck.

Agree re: the importance of the game but really think the summer can be salvaged.

We could have played to our absolute limit and still been well beaten, Dublin are that good, and confidence would be in tatters. But those players will know that Sunday wasn't about ability but more a failure to perform at all. But that doesn't undo all the hard work done over the past 2 years so no reason why things can't be put back on track in 2 weeks.

Very important we beat Armagh,if we fail to do so,it will mean going out at the same stage as the last 3 years. That would be very disappointing

really annoyed about the hill too. Why cant they open it up and give people the choice if they want to go to terrace? I know numbers will not be the same as when Dublin play but what does it matter to them if people sit in Cusack or stand in the hill?

Look if we get beat by armagh questions will have to be asked. Have we any improvement ove the last 2 years. Its great brining in new lads and shaking things up but the new lads must at least keep your hand at the same level if it weakens you hand what's the point?
But that debate is for another day. I don't think I'm over reacting in saying the short to medium term future of meath inter county football depends on this result. We have to win. Nothing short of victory even by 1 point after extra time will do.
The biggest game in years.
