Intermediate championship 2014

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Not sure how anybody could be confident in picking a winner of the intermediate championshp at this stage. It will be 3 and a half months (hopefully) before the next round of games. Depending on how teams use that period you could have teams that are in form now gone totally stale and vice versa. Teams will lose lads for the summer, lads will get fed up training for nothing and there'll be other issues.
There are 4 undeaten teams now who think they can win the championship, add in at least another 4 who are thinking the same thing. Its a minefield.

Can anyone shed any light on the syddan drums game,I would of had this down to be a close game after seeing drums play some nice football against ballinlough, was really surprised to see that score line last night.

I'd agree with you there bullet, would have thought they'd be in with a good chance of qualifying from the group but hard to see it now especially if they keep up that sort of form.

Simply Syddan beat the bejaney out of them and played the 2nd half with 14 players bara goal came in injury time at the end.....

Carnaross are looking like real dark horses for the championship now

How does one win over an average Clann na ngael after being hockeyed by Ballivor, losing to ashbourne b's and with Ratoath still to come make Carnaross dark horses for intermediate? They'll do well to avoid relegation in my eyes...

Lurch in all fairness you have to put Castletown in there as well really impressive team and I wouldn't be looking past them never mind anyone else,,

i think R3 has identified the candidates and the also-rans for this years champo.

Clan na Gael, Nobber, Drumbaragh and Ballinabrackey may all be forgotten about at this stage. Opportunity for each of them to put themselves in the driving seat, but now Im afraid I cant see any of them reaching the semis.

Ratoath Castltown and Cilles all putting up big scores in respective games and seem to have what it takes - though bottle questionable

teams that are quietly going abou their business that could be worth a punt - Ballivor (hurlers essential) and Dunderry

intriguing as always though

Wondering what the logic is behind the new Intermediate cup, I always thought the Feis cup, while still a 3rd rate competition, was a good way for intermediate teams to have a crack at senior teams and maybe take a scalp or 2. Is it to streamline fixtures? To give teams a chance of winning any sort of silverware?

Also as a Gaeilgeor I cant help but point out that "Corn na Bóinne Cup" is the equivalent of saying "Cup of the Boyne Cup"
