Congratulations to Ballinlough on a well deserved intermediate Championship , Its all about consistency and the lough had it this year . It also looks like the Sleeping giant that is North Meath Football is not a sleep at all . Two North Meath teams winning the Mattie McDonnell in the last two years . Its about time the idea that the best footballers are all from the south is put to bed.......Well done Ballinlough

Chaisleain_Abu That success might be somewhat cancelled out by the fact 5 of the 6 teams in the relegation playoffs in senior and intermediate were "North Meath" teams. Moynalvey and Na Fianna won 2 years in a row, but I doubt you were praising south meath at the time.

Really enjoyed the final. Great spirit from both teams as it ebbed and flowed. Credit to the bracks for the fight they made in the 2nd half. The defensive system probably cost them scores but Peadar Byrne was the difference. Didn't realise he could kick frees either. The runs and strength on the ball were super and generally ended up with a foul or a score. All those calling for Cian Ward back on the county squad would be better off looking for Peadar. He was the stand out player in Pairc Tailteann last sunday. As i say great game to watch as a nuetral but something fundamentally wrong when a team wins a championship loosing 2 and drawing 1 in the group. That won't bother them and good luck to them.
They're will be a lot of them going for the double with the hurling on sunday, i hope they do it!

Fair play to Ballinlough but they'll struggle next year, too old of a team and not a lot coming up from their underage.

Wasn't on since match. Ballinabrackey probably kicked it away, but congrats to ballibkough and best wishes for the remainder of year and indeed next year too. The two things I took from the match was that mod was wrong to drop Chris O'Connor and Nicky judge HAS to be on Meath panel next year.

I actually think Ballinlough can do well enough at Senior level. They have a very effective system and are very fit. They also hold Peadar Byrne one of the best club players in the county. There are worse teams at Senior level than Ballinlough.

great win for ballinlough considering their form was up and down early in the year. Ballinlough could of won the match by 7/8 points small mistakes like peader delaying 2 frees and some missed chances made the match look closer than it was. Ballinabrackey done extremely well to reach the final but lacked the creativity to win it.
