Just regarding Castletown lads, cant help notice they have started quite strong and seem extremely sharp, last year they struggled to dispose of an understrength Ballinabrackey team yet this year they wiped the floor with a full strength Bracks team and beat St Michaels, I realise they have quite a young team but did they get any new players from incoming transfers? One or two names there I don't seem to recognise of recent years. They always seem to be there or there abouts but never hammer it home.

It's been some turnaround for Castletown alright, 2 years ago in the opening round I watched bbrackey hammer them in bohermeen, don't think they even have a particularly young team, must just be puttin in extra bit of effort this last few years

I've seen Castletown play a few matches over the last couple of years and they have a couple of players who I would have on a team ahead of the 4 guys that were added to the county panel recently.

Name the players in question. I think Gerry Farrelly is possibly the only player who may be in with a shot. The 4 players added to the county panel are all excellent prospects and have played their way onto the panel IMO.

browncows..... you trying to big castletown up this year?
lads they are decent, like colmcilles and ratoath. But I don't see how any man could put money on them. Consistently disappoint when it comes to the knockouts. I don't mind people giving their predictions, but it seems to me that a lot of people do get carried away when talking about teams

tackleberry- that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Some of or all of the 4 players could be quite good and end up as good senior county players but it is early days yet (some of them did not play too well when up against good opposition and that is how I generally judge players). Your use of excellent is quite loose in my opinion. Is every player who plays on a county u21 team excellent, I think not but most of them would be good players as indeed most clubs have good u21 players. I do not generally post up or post down individuals by name on a board.

I am judging them on what I consider to be high standards, playing consistantly well at county level and at club level they stand out. I think they warrant their place as a result of both club football and county under age, it is a natural progression. I find it a bit pointless that you consider 4 Castletown players worthy of a county place ahead of these guys, then refuse to name them. It is a chat and opinion based forum. I do believe Castletown have some excellent players in the forwards, but all of them need to be consistent in the business end of the championship to get a call in. In fairness to MOD, he has county experince as a basis to call the guys he has called in. Of course all players who have played county are not exceptional, far from it.

Would I be correct in saying that Dunderry, Castletown, St. Colmcilles and Ballivor have already booked their place in the quarter finals? Who do we think will join them? I'm thinking Ratoath and Clan Na Gael from group C but after that I have no clue!

I was under the impression 3rd place in group B and C play each other in a preliminary quarter final? Same format as senior for the last couple of years

Oh, I didn't realise.
gives teams plenty of chances though. not sure if I prefer it that way... a team shouldnt be champs if they have lost 2 group games in my opinion.

dubsout -not sure what your comment about Castletown means. And by the way I'm not talking any team up if that is what you are trying to say. Tackleberry - a couple mean 2 not 4 as you appear to suggest judging by your last post. There are at least 4 to 5 teams who can win the championship and at this stage there is no clear favourite.

Castletown must have been impressive against longwood to get a score up on the board like That. I was surprised to see Dunderry beat balinabrackey,I thought balinabrackey would be in the shake up this year, any reports from that game. I was at trim/colmcilles game and I have to say colmcilles have a very good set of forwards who move well and can take their scores,I was disappointed with trim
