Derry playing some lovely stuff here; they are posting some brilliant scores and they look very comfortable footballers. Mark Lynch for a big lad has great touch and skill. Dubs depending on Brogan and Andrews to stay in it. Shocking decision just before half time there. The most blatant foul, penalty and black card you will ever see against the Derry forward right in front of the referee and he bottled it. Tommy Carr on the radio called it an awful decision and said Derry would be fuming. Now you have to ask and people will; was it because it was Dublin that the referee didn't give it?

I agree Ulsterman, shocking decision, but he's more than evened it up in the 2nd half. Dodged 2 black cards for Derry and for some reason stopped play when Mick Fitz was through on goal, not to mention a lot of soft frees going Derrys way in scoreable positions.

Now heres another question - Will anyone mention that? Probably not, because it goes against the popular opinion that Dublin get every decision from referees. This lad has been dreadful.

Well done to Derry btw, playing very well.

Derry totally deserved that win, we were very poor and Derry were good.

Yes fair enough Caislean the advantage should have been allowed I agree though Derry had another good penalty shout at the end while Michael Darragh McAuley was lucky to stay on the pitch for a few pulls, slaps and digs; he got away with quite a bit today. Derry were immense and fully deserved that win. They played some great, controlled football and they look like naturally talented players all very comfortable on the ball. Mark Lynch and Feargal Doherty were superb from start to finish. I suppose that's the way to play Dublin who, to be fair, looked a bit off form today and that's not their starting 15 I know but, for the greater good of the game, it is a plus to see other teams challenging and beating them.

Well done to Derry on the deserved win, they should have been 6 up at HT and that probably would have been the game.

But what I do find funny is how people like to poke fun at Dublin and referees any time we get a decision our way, after any rub of the green towards Dublin you'll get at least a comment or two about how we get all the decisions. Well, that 2nd half was probably the most biased I've seen on a football pitch and I bet there won't be a peep out of anyone. Paddy Andrews was hauled down every time he went on a run but it wasn't until his marker got sent off that the ref got something right. How he didn't give him a black card for the previous foul was beyond me. Then there was his stoppage of play when Mick Fitz was running in on goal, along with the soft scoreable frees Derry were consistently getting.

Before people start calling me a sore loser, I have no problem with Derry winning as they were the better team. My problem is with those who think Dublin seem to have some sort of internal agreement with referees. Where was this bias towards Dublin in the 2nd half today or the game against Cork a few weeks back?

Very good performance from Derry. They look like they'll give Ulster a good rattle this year.

Dubs looking very much like we did in 2012 I fear! Hopefully a better performance to some in Omagh next day out.

In fairness to the ref he was out sick the day they were told about the black card and advantage rules

look jim gavin spoke of this last year terrible ref performances against us
and got nowhere as usual they just turn it on its head and turn a blind eye
people seem clearly one sided by saying derry should have had a penalty before half time
yes clearly george did foul him
but are the same people ignoring the whole sequence of play
before george fouled him the derry forward pushed george in the back
as they both were running out to the ball
thats the only reason he got the ball in the first place,it was a clear free out!!!
derry were the better team first half
dublin were the better team second half
we missed about 5 clear goal chances in the second half that was the differance at the end of the day
and had one ball in the net and the ref decides the advatage rule doesnt exist
I had to look and see had paddy andrews got a saddle on him
he was being mounted that much
alan brogan was the best player on the park today
but probably wont get man of the match off tg4

Very poor performace today only things to take from that game was A Brogan, McAuley and Nolan's performace.

The referee had an absolute shocker today. Mick Fitz would have walked the ball into the goal if he had allowed the advantage rule. Derry should have had a stone wall penalty at the end of the first half and Dublin should have had a free in the build up to the Derry goal.

I lost count on the amount of time P Andrews was pulled down today.

Jims teams selections during the league have been strange and again today Kev Mc had a good a game in a Dublin jersey against Kildare as he's ever played and he didn't feature today. Naming Dummy teams or players in teams who he then says later are injured (Flynn, Costello).

Derry were certainly a blast from the past. Build a lead and then try to turn the last 25 minutes in 7/8 minutes through diving and other time wasting and dragging players down. Did that iref not get the email about the black card?

Anyway, roll on the Summer and some decent football when the Dublin subs are all back on the bench :-)

Caislean if it makes you feel any better ALL the big teams in ALL sports get the same threw at them i.e. that ALL decisions go their way. I would have been pretty neutral today but I thought the Dubs got most calls going their way in the first half while Derry got the benefit of the second half. If Derry had scored the penalty that wasn't given at the end of the first half they would have been 6 ahead and no one could really have complained so you could say the referee kept you in it after the first 35 mins.

Are you serious Hill.....seriously? Brogan was good and took his scores well but Mark Lynch and Fergal Doherty were the two best players on the pitch by a long way today. Now who is talking about one sided opinions???????

Ulsterman You were neutral???? Who are you kidding!!!

The amount of time wasting in that second half. When Boyle went down in the second half he was down for at least 30 seconds when I put the stopwatch on there was about 2min 30 secs wasted there alone. The exact same rubbish went on in the Cork Match.

Derry deserved there win they were the better team.

The referee had a shocker!!!!

Well done Derry on a great win and well deserved no doubt about that. 100% peno for Derry not given just before ht poor George is just not good enough, also how is Kevin Nolan not getting in? Easily our best defender in the 2nd half when he came on , just to many Dublin players playing today that are not good enough. Referee had a nightmare with some terrible decisions especially the fitzsimon's goal and no black cards , Philly you were our best player today til you went and ruin it with a stupid dig surely the days of throwing digs are over? On the plus side Alan Brogan 6 points from play great to see him back. Last word for Mark Lynch what a game he had unbelievable point taking.

ulsterman

it should have been a free out for push in the back first
if he gave that there would be no penalty talk at all

Dear oh dear oh dear, talk about sour grapes and bad losers; it's Ballysaggart all over again with some Dubs who think no one has the right to beat them. Derry were the better team today and fully deserved their victory; they more than matched Dublin's physicality and fitness, played the best football, posted the best scores and should have won by more BUT some just can't handle that. As usual the petty, stereotypical, anti-Nordie comments are creeping in, and shamefully MODS, being posted by you here and on the Dublin page. What is it about Southern sides, GAA folk and media, that makes them so bitter and begrudging against Ulster sides and Northern people?

Dublin fans, yes you should have got advantage, but it wasn't the ref who kicked the resulting free wide, it wasn't the ref who kicked a few kickouts straight to Derry, it wasn't the ref who stuck a few monster points over in the second half, and it wasnt the ref who made two great saves to deny Dublin goals.

Both teams had decisions go against them but only one team won by 6 points. Take your beating. Hope we meet you again later on in the year :-)

Fair, play to the dubs who made the journey, a credit to your county! Enjoy your stay.

Derry deserved their win, In first half it was a definite peno and Derry played the better football,Second half although a few decisions went against us we were poor we had too many lads who will not play in championship and looked totally disjointed. Fitz and George are liabilities and shouldn't be there, Philly mc Mahon is going to have to stop trying to be the hard man and take responsibilty and grow up, we were 3 down against 14 men and looking good and he does a stupid act that affects the team. On the plus for us Alan brogan , Kev Nolan looked good and so did Paddy.
Theres no point in us whinging about certain ref decisions ,we weren't good enough end of story.
