Predictions for winner of NFL Division 1?

Fair enough master but the difference being that Mayo are in a much better place than Tyrone at the moment therefore expectations are higher from both inside the county and neutrals. Its only natural that Mayo folk will go through huge swings between confidence and self doubt.

So, Tyrone get schooled by Kerry in Killarney in March and the doom mongers are out in force telling us not to bother turning up for the rest of the year, good stuff.

I have to say, I admire this attitude (Although the 'doom monger' is in fact ulsterman who is probably just trying to be the cute antrim hoor anyway). When tyrone are poor and get criticised, the seige mentality comes out. They dont doubt themselves. For some reason my own county is quite different. In mayo, if we had just got a hiding off kerry, the fans would be turning on everyone. They start doubting at the hint of a poor performance, then when mayo put in the type of performance that is being asked of them (i.e. almost perfect) it is 'mayo for sam', or in other words, more pressure. We could learn a lot from the approach of the tyrone fans.

To be fair master go onto the tyrone page and you'll see we can soon turn on each other anyway.

Remember us getting destroyed by 10 or 11 points down there in 05 but it think it's just the manner of defeat this time and the one point in 35 minutes which is worrying.
Anyway we have plenty to work on before the westmeath game and maybe sneaking that win against a kildare side who played us of the park was the worst thing that could have happened and papered over the cracks no better team than Kerry to bring us back down to earth.
Hopefully we can dust ourselves down, some players need to take a good long hard look at themselves as i'm not seeing the reqiored effort from some of them, we still have some very good players in the side but we will need every single player to give 100 percent commitment if we are going to win anything the year i really can't wait for our next few game's to try and get a positive result to lift things again.

Thanks for the link brend.

I appreciate the points lads, but I would say that this is something that has long been in place within mayo fans and not just in the last year or two, and indeed with the tyrone approach. We are in quite a similar place to what tyrone were in many respects, strong but with a team above them that on paper is stronger. The attitudes of fans are noticeably different to me though, and obviously so are the results of the two teams. Tyrone have had and still have this plucky approach where they embrace and even search out the underdog mentality and make it work for them, mayo fans on the other hand talk about the goings on of 1951 more regularly than when it was actually 1951! It is a far more negative angle to look at the situation from and I believe it tells in the performances of the teams. I actually believe it has served tyrone well as regards helping their performances (when have tyrone not performed on the big occasion? they actually tend to play above themselves), while it has had the opposite effect on my own county. You often hear of mayo not having forwards come championship time, but this seems to be the case with every group of forwards we produce. I think it is more the forwards we have, start feeling this pressure being put on by fans and it affects them. The forwards change, but the pressure is the only constant. Anyway, it is a little off topic, roll on cork.

I wonder if Tyrone's experience in Kerry will convince them that "champagne" football is not suited to the northern mentality.

Cold tea without sugar is a more natural source of refreshment for us dour folk & I'm glad to see that JMcG is having no truck with these new fangled ideas, his weird experiment of not bothering with a midfield of any description for the first 15 mins last Sunday notwithstanding.

No Mickey, it's not in your blood & will only end in tears. Embrace your natural cussedness, start growing those beards & all will be well.

Tyrone v Westmeath... Tyrone to win easily. I doubt that Micky Harte will tolerate another second half performance like last Sunday.
Derry v Dublin... Dublin. Derry are good and I think they will make the semi-finals. Dublin are the best team in the country though.
Mayo v Cork... Cork. We are going well at the moment at all levels, Sigerson, under 21, young senior team. Never easy in Castlebar and we won't win by much but thankfully we have something to work on after last week and an improved performance may see us sneak it.
Kildare v Kerry... Kerry. The losers will stare relegation in the face I would say. History tells us that Kerry do not lose these games so I will go for them.
