Best of luck to Sean Johnson but can't help feel that this is a step in the wrong direction for the GAA as a whole, sad day for the GAA.

Kingpuck you are after listing players who weren't dropped from their county panel. Obviously Paul Baredn, Enda Muldoon Eamon O Hara etc never looked to move county as they were always involved so they were never dropped, being not selected maybe sometimes if they had a injury etc but they were always on the panel. Johnston was told he wasn't being picked this year, 5 other players were dropped along Johnston in October and they have never being called back in either. I'm not saying they should have went seeking a transfer aswell but Johnston is a proven county player and he wanted to continue playing county football for a few more years. He is 28, in his peak. And i can't see this being a watershed moment in the GAA as you stated.. the CCC dragged this out so long that they were trying to make an example of Johnston's case. Noboy said anything about Tommy Walsh moving to Wicklow and then back to Carlow. Billy Sheean lived and works in Dublin and got a move to Laois.

While we bring in 4 of our own U 21's lads to the senior set Kildare bring in a Cavan man. It's a sad day for Kildare football.

Seems the Dubs have taken this decision worse than any other County. When you look at their Club teams you'd have to wonder why they are not used to it by now.

Haha you can tell Jimbo wants to lay into Kildare for this but has to bit his tongue and praise them instead for obvious reasons!

How was it illegal and unethical last week.... And everything is above board now because the cac got so ****** off with his constant appealing?

Either way I like Kildare and hope Johnston, whose obviously very talented, finds his feet their and helps them to a Leinster title.

Plenty of people willing to slate Seanie Johnston for wanting to play football but what about Val Andrews who caused the whole thing ? As could be seen from last Sundays game against Donegal the Cavan team needs players like Seanie. The Cavan County Board sat on their hands instead of trying to resolve the situation too. Sad day for Cavan football when our best forward for many a year has to leave to play the game he loves at the highest standard !!

Yeah.. it's just that pathetic living in the country that these lads have no other choice.

We'll take em in and give em a 2nd chance in life.

Foolsgold.

Plenty of people said a lot about Thomas Walshe going to Wicklow from Carlow and it soured relations between the 2 counties.

Iv a soft spot for kildare as i lived there for many years but if Johnston plays with them i hope they dont win Leinster or an all-Ireland

Do you Cavan boys honestly think Seanie's Cavan days were over? Honest question!.

Players fall out with managers all the time, our own Bradley's a fine example, the whole bloody Cork hurlers also. But in this case Kildare came knocking and Seany seen a chance of glory something so of he went to junp ship and live in Kildare, when he should be fighting for his place back in HIS county's team.

Shame on Seany and Shame on Kildare

Sad day for a lot of people. But I would not blame Val for this as. Where will this end for other like minded managers? But really SJ has to take the place of an already established Kildare footballer, while in the short nobody will care if and when serious Silverware is landed but I suspect it could cause tension down the road.

But look in saying all of this, best of luck Kildare, they identified a shortcoming (but I personally think they have the players already) they have their walking wounded back, its make or break for McGeeney. It will make an interesting Summer.

So will kildare add a little bit of blue to there strip? To make him feel at home.

But in all seriousness after all this there will surely be a round of club matches before the championship game

Anybody else have a feeling that whole situation will end up a big anticlimax.
Johnson won't be eligible this year so will play a few o Byrne cup games next January. He'll struggle to make the NFL team then be well down the pecking order later in the season. Eventually he'll shuffle back to cavan Gaels with people wondering what the fuss was all about. You'd think Johnson was the gooch with the hullabaloo surrounding this case.

Latest rumor is the original transfer was blocked due to an objection by unnamed party.....as this objection was made before the 'Seanie Johnston Rule' was passed, apparently he is now free to play with Kildare without having to play championship with Kevins. Expect to see his first appearance v's Offaly.
