Dublin have a pop of 1.5 million we should not have any outsiders on any of our teams.

Hate to bust your bubble but there's plenty of outsiders playing for plenty of Dublin teams.

In fairness derfil1 I don't think Clondalkindub's a 12 year old with an iphone on here defending Dublin right or wrong. He knows Dublin is full of country players and has just pointed out that he doesn't agree with most of it, particularly on county teams. You burst nobody's bubble, in fact you're definitely struggling to keep up with a grownup discussion.
Why are some Kildare posters (not all) taking peoples disquiet re inter county transfers and Johnston's in particular as some sort of an anti-Kildare conspiracy?

Lads Johnny Murtagh's attempted move to Louth was a far more plausible reasons (technically) than Johnston's. He had blood links to Louth given that he was born there. However like Johnston's the GAA looked at the fact that he was already moving around clubs like Robbie Keane, had left the strongest club in Ireland (Crossmaglen) to become a Gaelic footballer/coach at a Dublin club with more money than conscience and here again the GAA used a technicality (for his initial move he gave Armagh, not Louth as his home county) to really stop a move that was ethically wrong. In fairness if they could ever be consistent and fair accoss the board in delivering these decisions I would have no problem with them as they would protect the fabric of our association.

McGeeney put his side of the story across in the Examiner today.

Decent interview be all accounts.

brian the procedure now for seanie is to go to the CAC (central appeals committee) not the DRA to appeal the decision of the CCCC it has to go through the CAC first. It is widely known that the CAC just uphold any decision the CCCC makes. so presuming seanie and kildare are expecting that to happen and will then go the the DRA.
if they could cut out the CAC and go straight to the DRA they probably would. but the transfer will have to go through the various appeals commitee's until finally the DRA.
i think somebody once said it was 10k to go to the DRA to appeal but in fact it is 1k to have the dra look at a case.

its a smart move by McGeeney, looking for empathy for Seanies case. You can either look at it that he 'just wants to play football' or ya have some cheek for trying to count your chickens before they hatch. I have to be honest its the latter for me.

I took that from it myself.

He's putting a case across for his player, and thats quite understandable

But what SJ is doing now, or how he is in training and so on is still pretty irrelevant in the overall scheme of things. The basis of it goes back to the original request and the merits of it.

Welcome on board Seanie. Hear he's flying in training.

I'll suspect a lot of Kildare smug replies! Lets hope his a success for yis. We might get more drama next year in the January transfer window! :)

On a more serious note, who will lose out Cavanagh or Smith? My money is on Smith.

How has this case any different to the many players who are transferring to play in Dublin from all counties.
We currently have two players playing with st sylvesters who are living in the mid Louth area without question. How do these transfers get through with no fuss.
Is it a case of the home club signing the transfer in the hope the players will return and not cause any bad feeling?
The Dublin club scene is becoming a little like the premiership, and we all know that the top soccer players aren' t coming to England for their love of the weather...

Well said. No Dub has the right to moan about this transfer with this going on for years.

Sedico - How are the talks with Gooch going?

I think its boiling down to image rights. But everything else is in check. 2 tons of Fish every 6 months, a pretty Kildare Maiden and her hand in marriage. And the freedom of Straffan. And for McGeeney to address him as 'The Gooch'.

Now if only we could get a reserve Keeper, preferably with Barclays Premiership experience to catch them low balls.
