So, is anyone who visits the Vatican a friend of the Vatican? Mary Robinson? Queen Elizabeth? Presidents Obama, Bush and Clinton? Cop yourself on, the fact that someone visits the Vatican doesn't mean anything.

Funny enough, I agree that Mugabe shouldn't have been allowed near the beatification ceremony, but the fact that he was there, along with numerous other political and state figures, doesn't say squat about his relationship with the Pope or the Church.

I'm against both vists Liz and Barry! Both got blood on their hands for illegal wars in Iraq, Afganistan and Libya.
Obviously Liz is far closer to home and still occupies 3/16's of our country so I welcome the protests but wouldn't like to get too close to RSF!! Hate the way the press suggest it is all disidents protesting, INCORRECT!

I'll be attending a families for justice vigil to pay respect to those killed in the Dublin/Monaghan bombings, hopefully the British in this new found sense of 'friendship' will hand over all information they have regarding the attacks, as requested by Dail Eireann.

thank god for this visit at least it will show that only a small minority are living in the past and the vast majority fully embrace the queen and what she represents. did anyone watch the programs last night about what the brits have ever done for us- its 100% true had it not being for the british the gaa would not be as strong in this country - i think alot of people for get this.

No worries. the people that carry on the militant nationalist struggle tend to hijack other peoples right to protest as an endorsement of their own aims, much like they hijacked the national flag for a while. the term dissident is used to put down people that protest or question anything that is happening with the country

I support a nations right to defend itself against terrorism. I dont deem the provisional IRA to be terrorists, they had a legitimate and noble aim.

The taliban and Al Qaeda however, have no such aim. They are simply bloodthirsty terrorists who wish to destroy freedom and democracy, because their religion is incompatible with democracy.
