What will you be the doing during the Visits?

Just saw the news there, an awful lot of security seems to in place for the two visits in the next few weeks.

So, what will people be doing during Liz's visit, and Barry's?

Is anyone going to Dublin for it? Or what about Moneygall, are a lot of people planning on heading there to see the Prez down a point.

Personally, I'm planning on taking part in the Republican Sinn Fein protest in a few days, as far as I'm concerned as long as the North is occupied, the British queen aint welcome. I'm all for Obama coming though, I hear he's a Celtic fan, well it's his second club after West Ham. I'll probably watch his visit on telly.

I'll be doing what I would normally be doing if she wasn't coming. It's not going to have any bearing on my life at all.

I am opposed to the visit so i will simply be ignoring it and getting on with my life as per usual.

Will be doing my normal thing, although where i live in kildare will mostly be blocked off so there may be some inconveniences

both of them are welcome in my opinion. I dont have much time for the queen but if she wants to come then fair enough. anything that will boost the irish economy for tourism is good in my books. I admire Mr.Obama and im disappointed he aint speaking in croker.

I see some republican head man and a muslim extremist are in garda custody today. thats the place for them in my opinion. issusing threats to visitors to our shore is the last thing our country needs right now.

The Queen's visit, especially the Croke Park bit, is part of Britain's promise to promote a United Ireland.

The republican sinn Fein protest therefore is about par for the course.

Why have a United Ireland when you could be fighting for one?

I'll be protesting. I wont join an Eirigí protest or a RSF one mind, bit too extreme on the left for me them groups. Nonetheless we have common ground on a few issues and this is one of them. Its not 40 years since the SAS were shooting Irishmen dead in Ulster, and the Queen still exercises jurisdiction on the northern part of our island. As long as that remains, as a republican who is devoutly opposed to monarchies, titles and ceremony, I cannot accept her here in peace. I am willing to accommodate unionists, as I know they wont be bombed into a united Ireland, and is only through respecting their heritage they might be persuaded.

However too much atrocity has been inflicted on Ireland by this womans and her predecessors soldiers. I cant accept her visit, no matter how much I think about it and try to reason with myself about the symbolism and such.

In fairness, being born is not really an achievement, in fact it's hard to avoid it once it kicks off.

I'll probably head to see her, its a privilege for us to have Royalty visiting our shores, not to mention all the money it will inject into our economy so I don't see a problem. Of course there are and will always be those who like to invent a problem because its in their nature but I'd like to think those wasters are in the minority.
