To me those 2 games seem like in house training games open to the public based on how many county players got on the club teams of the year. Also with the dates not every player picked could be available as there's often weddings etc. over xmas and new year, 1 player on each team has gone travelling since the club championship finished. And not running down the 3 lads who are nominated for hurler of the year but 2 of them, while sound lads and very dedicated and committed and in general are good hurlers, didn't have the best club championships. I know that last year and the year before, the judging panel was basically the crew of commentators and analysts from Wexford GAA TV, so I'd expect it was the same this year. As regards other things - am only speculating here, but I remember too that it was something like February this year before last year's Teams of the Year were announced, after some sort of problems with videos to announce and analyse the teams. Am guessing then that just doing the teams the way they've done it now is far easier to arrange. It does take some of the drama out of it, though!
