It was said he wouldn't move club until he was finished with the county but looks like he's decided to go anyway."
He'll be finished with the county before he plays for Carnew.

It was all a bit mad really, I d think they've been used since some of the rackard league finals, I would have thought Patrick's Park was the place to go instead of ferns.

Good result and played a nice brand of football, heads up football with quick movement of the ball that caught Wicklow out.

In terms of preparation we look much further up the road than at the same stage last season and compared to Wicklow also, good result but I think the disruption caused Wicklow more issues than us.

But take it all day, good start to the year, well on the pitch anyway

Am guessing an issue with St. Patrick's Park would have been how all match traffic would have been arriving there in the space of about 15 minutes, instead of the usual 90 minutes or more between the first of the players and the last of the spectators. There'd have been a traffic jam half the way through Enniscorthy.

Turned out to be a late night with the unexpected detour to Ferns but was a performance well worth seeing, and hopefully just the first step in what could turn out to be a good year for us.

Looked liked a very inexperienced Wicklow team but we seem to be a lot more prepared than last year hard to read anything into an O Byrne cup game though we should be at least challenging for promotion to the last day.

Yeah think it leaves a few people red faced to be honest, good performance well worked goals, hard running of Pauric Hughes in the 1st half something that caught my eye, remember us giving Laois a big beating in this game 2 years ago so wouldn't be reading too much into it yet.

ferns was really odd, so many places with lights around nearer, but in fairness a pitch had to be found in minutes, the one lesson learned from last season is that we needed to up the pace we played the game at, meath exposed that, countless times our lads were caught in possession in that game,as they were not moving the ball fast enough, there is a massive difference that the game is played at between divisions, even if we got out of 4 we would not survive playing at div 4 pace and i know this something they are working on, we will also have a stronger panal this year, the one worry about last night wicklow still scored 2.12, the kildare game will be priceless in getting ready for the league

I think after last year there is a feeling we need to hit the ground running and be right at it for the League. Last year we started very slowly, though of course all the injuries didn't help.

Pauric Hughes is a Sigerson starter the last while. Definitely Div2 or div1 standard fair play to him.

After the effort put in in Tullamore I thought the lads looked tired in Navan. Meath had a 2 week break before that game, we only had a week.

After the rain that fell the last 2-3 days no certainty pitches nearby would be playable, COE in Ferns and Patricks Park are 2 venues that can cope comfortably with a spell of heavy rain.

Also that club pitches probably haven't been mowed or properly marked out for many weeks at this time of year.

And even if there was a club pitch that was playable, mowed, and marked out, it'd still be a big ask for any club to host an inter-county match at only about an hour's notice.

That transfer is filed away in the same drawer as the Cathal Dunbar one :)

True only venue I had in mind was Hollymount as it held a game last Friday but I'd imagine everyone arriving at once down a rural road like that would be difficult logistically.

To be fair to Wicklow it was probably to help them get home quicker. Match probably wasn't over until nearly half 10 so after showers etc probably 12 o clock before they got home and lads in south wexford probably similar.

To be honest it's an embarrassment for wexford gaa. This is the second time the generator has caused problems it happened before a hurling game last year too.

Was thinking the same regards Wicklow team travelling back, yeah I'd agree doesn't look good, 3 league games between 2 codes due to be under lights and I think the Galway game in the championship is down for for 7 1st weekend of May so lights might be needed there for the 2nd half.

4 league games actually 2 in each code, Clare in the hurling is on at 4 on a Sunday in late February. Other 3 Saturday evening games.
