Replying To endgame:  "Did Johnny Cooper not get sent off marking him in the drawn game in 2019."
He may well have been for a time. There was lots of switching about. Fitzsimons tends to - or used to before starting to come forward a bit more - stick to the traditional left corner zone. All plans went out the window of course when Jonny left the scene!

Con has played his part the last couple of games but he's been well marshalled, great to see other lads take the opportunity when there's been an obvious attempt to limit Con as much as possible, think that's the stand out feature across this run, it's not a one man show and there's a number of forwards making their mark (if you excuse the pun)

Fantastic performance by Costello last weekend, near faultless, top end in the 1st half as Dublin struggled to get their game going against a very well prepared Monaghan side, he won everything into him, very accurate and used the limited ball going in there superbly well.

Hopefully those around Con continue to play well, Dublin forward line this year are in tune but Con is also due another big performance, hopefully it's coming on the 30th July.

As I recall JOnny started on Clifford but he was having a fairly torrid time of it - he got two yellows.

If I was a betting man - I would bet that neither CC or Collie will be the top scorer from play for Dublin in the final.
Just hoping Paul, Con or CK take up any slack in the scoring for us.....

I think DC will be the top scorer and probably POTY also.
He is a super talent in fairness.
Mick Fitz will be handed the unenviable task of marking him,

JS v SOS will be some battle - Smally needs to ensure he doesnt pick up an early yellow imo.

I also think this will be the last time we see 4 of this team (JMC, MF, SC & DR) - irrespective of the result.
Just hope we give a good account of ourselves and hopefully get the rub of the green.
Not expecting a win tbh.

We seem to trying for one last hurrah but they will want to beat a full strength, even if aging, Dublin team and do back to back. Massive motivation for them.

We beat a tiring Mayo team who were playing their 3rd game in 3 weeks, and other than that we really have not being brilliant at all.

Kerry are favourites for a reason.

Just heard we have a meath man, who definitely does us no favours, is to ref the final.
Felt he was very hard on us v Mayo especially in that 1st half.
Look, it is what it is, but I defo would have preferred someone else tbh...
Not taking from his ability - he is a very good ref but....

Anyway, let the uproar begin from you know who and you know where....... ;o)

After seeing both Kerry and Dublin up close this year for me Dublin should be favourites. I would suggest David Clifford makes Kerry the bookies favourites. For me though Dublin will have too much for this Kerry team which is not a great team by any stretch.

Clifford is the difference.

He will be top scorer in the game.

Will Dublin outscore kerry.???
Very unlikely, if he is on fire....
That is how important he is to the result imo.

He takes it in his stride and nothing fazes him.
I for one rated SOS higher than DC previously, but not anymore...
Rarely has an off day, so the Dublin forward unit need to up their performance on the scoreboard, as a collective unit.

There will defo be at least 1 black card imo, and this too could have a massive impart on the result.

Gonna be nerve wrecking, exciting and very intense.....

We can nearly predict the players who will get a card.... ;o)

Quick Draw McGraw will get RSI with the amounts of cards he will dish out.. (joke) ;o)

Replying To TheUsername:  "Yeah keeping Clifford to 4 - 6 is a good day out, he scores much from the advanced mark so that is something i think w ca look at. whether its Howard or Jamsie coming into field in front of him sweeping and Fitzy behind and sandwich him.

We've scored 20+ in almost every game, bar Roscommon i think im right in saying. I feel we have goals in us and i think we can keep them out with Cluxton.

Discipline is key we cant give them anything or much kickable.

Think Kerry will struggle with the pace of our backs, Murch, Lee and maybe Jack - the overloads of our defenders usually got us out in front Vs Kerry in recent games.

Hoping for a strong ref as since Tally went in their they will just drag you down high up the pitch if you break."
"they will just drag you down high up the pitch if you break."

"They" didn't do this once against Derry. Funny that.

Very honest interviews from Dessie ahead of Sunday:-

https://www.rte.ie/sport/football/2023/0725/1396375-clifford-has-kept-us-up-late-at-night-farrell/

Dublin manager Dessie Farrell has described Kerry captain David Clifford as "probably the greatest" footballer he's ever seen.

Farrell and his management team are currently plotting a way to halt the Kingdom from making back-to-back All-Ireland SFC titles this Sunday at Croke Park (throw-in 3.30pm).

Speaking to GAA.ie ahead of the decider between the two old rivals, Farrell said that the Dubs have a unique talent to try and stop in the sensational Fossa clubman.

"I actually love watching him play," says Farrell. "He's such a special, unique talent. I tell the kids he reminds me of myself when I played…but I think they know more!"

"He's brilliant. He's probably the greatest I've ever seen.

"He can do things nobody else can. He's a physical specimen and he has a skill set that belies that. He's just so, so unique and he's such a leader for them as well. He makes them tick.

"We're under no illusions how difficult that's going to be. It could keep you up late at night, for sure. I think the challenge for us is to accept that he's in such a rich vein of form, he's going to do damage. He's going to have an impact on the game.

"We've just got to accept that. It's trying to minimise the impact and try and not get over-fixated on him. Because if you do that, you turn the tap off here - it opens the floodgates somewhere else."

"They have some other really good forwards and some backs who are also comfortable in attack, so they can hit you from all different angles. They've loads of threat.

"So I think it's just about us getting a balance right. Trying to manage him but also keeping an eye on the overall plan so that we're not overly impacted by a concentration of focus on him."

Did anyone else not read the small print on the season ticket properly, and miss out on a final ticket? Missed two champo games and now have to scramble for a final ticket, after having the season ticket since 2012.

Ah well, there's a certain nostalgia to the mild panic about not knowing if the friend-of-a-friend's uncle might get a spare off the bloke-who-works-with-the fella-who-owns-the-JCB.

Aye I don't think Kerry are a great team, but they have the greatest player in the modern game on their team - Dublin are vulnerable too though - it was a very open championship this year, and one which Derry will look back on and wonder - but it's a young Derry team and you'll be back.

I think a fair few have ended up in same boat, Especially with all the extra games when people assumed that going to 5 would be enough to get a final ticket,

I have a Parnell and other than that I would have little chance. Did put in request to club for one for a good supporter who will not get one. Told them it wasn't for myself. I'm not involved much anymore other than the odd event and paying membership so not put out by not getting one.

As usual, however, it is annoying to hear of people getting one who have no business being there if you ask me.

Last year came far too soon. This year was a good opportunity but David Clifford was the difference. Sometimes you just have to admire his genius. Tactically though maybe we could have doubled up but really we missed golden chances and Kerry punished us.

I mentioned on another thread that next year we will be aiming for a Sam Maguire. We have won Ulster twice in a row and a treble would be nice but now after taking Kerry to the wire we will be aiming to bring an All Ireland home. Last year we were happy to be in the semi-final. This year we had more hope than expectation. Next year we will be expecting. Hopefully Meenagh stays on but I have heard rumours he isn't all that keen on taking the role permanently. Malachy O'Rourke would be my choice if it comes to it and if that did happen I would be confident of getting to the final next year.

I hear that clubs might have another allocation this evening after returns from other counties. Might be a bit higher than usual for same reasons as hurling - accommodation and travel.
