Replying To BarneyGrant:  "Biggest game for our hurlers in ten years, and we have a personal squabble!"
To be honest Barney. I am still bearing the scars of 2013. There was one moment where Ryan O'Dwyer broke through and went. for goal. The thing was he had a just had bang on the hand and couldn't get the shot off with the. requisite power. Nash saved and the rest is.......well you know yourself what happened.
I have worries about. Burke's fitness and Clare won't lack motivation especially after how their last game ended.
I can't see a Dublin win.

Replying To BarneyGrant:  "I'm looking forward to it, both games. Been a few years since we had a day out on big hurling day and we usually do well. Some great days including beating Limerick Thurles twice and Galway in Tullamore.

Odds against us on Saturday but they'll be well prepared I think so Clare will not be getting anything handy although you'd imagine they'll have a bit in hand. One thing i be hopeful of is that defence has been very tight so far and conceded just 3 goals in 6 matches, huge turn around on recent years. The Galway one was a bit of a mess really as Eoghan O'D was changing his boot at the time on sideline!

So if they can restrict Clare that way and turn it into a dog fight and be still there going into last quarter I'd nearly fancy them as they've finished well in all games. Certainly won't run out of steam for sure."
I hope you get over the line. Although it has been two weeks, one wonders how much the MF took out of Clare. Certainly the GAA seemed to thing it took a lot and as a result put the game in Limerick. Cannot give away goals and as you say if the lads can keep it tight on a warm humid day, the fitness at the end would be key.

I'd say big factor is that they are just not used to one another, besides the odd challenge match. Which will mean that unless one or other has tactically come up with some way to exploit a perceived weakness that it could be quite cagey.

Big worry here is that Donal Burke might not be 100%.

I don't think the Limerick factor will bother Dublin. It is "home" for Clare supporters, but Clare team can hardly claim to have a great record there despite the earlier win against Limerick?

I'm much more of a football fan than a hurling fan, just go to the odd hurling game but watch the lads when they're on GAA Go. It was men against boys today. Very poor defensive performance, Fitzgerald had the freedom of the park down the middle and Dublin's play was riddled with basic errors. How we could be so loose when playing a sweeper in there was baffling. Truth be told, Clare left about 8 more points behind them. Dublin firmly in the second tier of teams at the moment.

Bit of a reality check for Dublin hurling. Many of their fans think they're a top class Grade A team but the truth is they're not. It's very hard to break into the elite. Dublin are tolerated because of the economic benefits they bring.

Didn't hear that from me lad, I think we're a 'good' team, and that is all.
Not sure what the economic benefits are though.

Are they the fans that you've surveyed? Oh go on, tell us the one about Ulster hurling again. Dublin's hurling slump must be annoying for you breaking your narrative about the capital being financially doped, artificial success etc. Empty vessels and all of that…

Physicality only gets you so far.
Our touch. and general skill set. just seems to crumble when playing elite teams.
Our decision making and speed of thought in the heat of intense. battle just not good enough.
As long as football enjoys such a high profile in Dublin our hurlers will never attract talented dual players like KIlkenny, Con, Costello or Connolly.
It's depressing.

This why the regional nature to hurling in the dual counties outside of Dublin is probably very valuable. If you are from Gort or Kilchreest in Galway there is no chance of you choosing football over hurling unless you are happy to be seen as a bit odd!

Towards the end of the game a Clare player - I forget who it was- went for a point instead of a goal. It felt as. if. he was showing us mercy. Never want to see that again. The ultimate humiliation..

You must be a sensitive soul to speak with such empathy about a team that has been knocked out of the championship! Well done!

Tony Kelly. He had already scored three. I actually thought it was a sporting gesture. I felt for the Dublin followers who made the trip to Limerick yesterday. I was hoping Dublin would be competitive and give them a decent game but they bore no resemblance to the team that played Galway in Croke Park a few weeks ago - a tough day for both the team and management.

It was a sporting gesture and fair play to him. But from a Dublin perspective we never ought to be in a position where in the closing stages the opposition is so comfortable that they can spurn goal scoring opportunities.

Dublin's dominance has destroyed Leinster football. It's just sad to Laois in such a desperate state and taking an awful, embarrassing hammering like this.
