Like all supporters they hate to lose, but unlike most they cannot handle it too well, whether it be Tyrone for example, or Dublin.
The Dubs success of the past decade brought this to the fore in a massive way. Some have no time for Dublin, a very small few are complimentary, and a few take both sides, compliment on one hand and whinge about funding, playing games in Croke Park and sponsorship on the other hand - when it suits them. The odd slight dig every now and again just to make a point.... And I am sure that works both ways.
I remember growing up and my Dad & Uncle would always say - never trust a kerry man when it comes to football, and they were right. ;o)
I saw if first hand at the recent all Ireland finals and semi finals with kerry. All smiles and howdy before the game but when the game is going against them, their ugly side appears. Look every county has it but I would definitely say that the past decade brought out the worst of them tbh. Quite a few Dubs might not like them but we respect their achievements - I am quite sure most of them dont respect ours. Well they might say they do but I doubt it. ;o) Personally I dont want to see kerry win, but I respect their achievements and even more so the way their Hurlers are doing so well these days. But years of tough defeats has made Dubs be able to accept defeat. I feel it is the opposite for a lot of them. Like in all sports you have to be able to accept defeat even though it hurts, and be able to win graciously and humbly.
And believe me, we were playing in Croke Park when we were winning sweet fanny adam, so that, and the population arguments hold no water for me. The difference this past decade was that we had a once in a lifetime group of players over the period of a decade or so. It will never happen again imo. As for sponsorship they have the largest sponsorship in the country - including a state of the art centre of excellence built foc so I ignore the sponsorship arguments also. Funding helped us of course but you cannot turn a mule into a race horse no matter how much money you throw at it.
Anyway - best not to read a lot their comments regarding Dublin - I try to ignore now after more than a few years of fighting the Dubs corner. And HS has been a better place for the lack of nonsense that went on here before.
The past 2 years it has died off a little but for some reason the return of Jack, Clucko and Mannion has started it off again. I personally dont think we will win the AI this year, as we will concede too much v the top teams. But you can see that some seem to be concerned about us once more. Which is funny in a way.
This is what rivalry is about but make no mistake - quite a few of them really dont like us and will do anything to belittle our recent achievements. They might respect some of our players but deep down it hurt them massively to see us win 6 in a row and 8 in a decade.
As Jimbo said - these are memories of a lifetime for us Dubs, but also memories for them that they want to erase.
Like I said - not stoking the fire and am no longer interested in wasting my time going back and forward with them. Time to move on, ignore and chat about other things on HS.
But I do see your point..... ;o) lol" Super post Fionn, the only thing I disagree with is that I do think we'll win the AI, here's hoping!

Replying To Fionn: "Hopefully Archer will make it through next year now that the ban was lifted.
I would think Deano is biting at the bit in training knowing that this could more than likely be his, and at least 3 others last year in the blue of Dublin.
He defo needs minutes on the pitch but it depends how the 1/4 final is going." I don't think all the training in the world can turn back the clock Fionn. Dean was a brilliant servant to Dublin football - he was so much more than just a free taker. He worked on all aspects of his game and steadily improved as an all round footballer over his career. I'd love to see him get another spin of the wheel . Two things really cause me to belive that an All-Ireland is beyond our grasp. 1. A consistent free taker who can take the clutch scores like Dean could 2. Our defensive structure and the inexperience of some of our defenders will be badly exposed by the likes of Kerry. When you see Sligo's forwards open us up a few times you know there is something seriously amiss.

That remark was not in relation to yourself. I have twisted nothing. Were you on that forum in 2011, 2013, 2015-20 when anti-Dublin sentiment was in full spate, You will have read recent comments there describing ex-Dublin players as s**m and filth- yet you and others said nothing. But I do see your point..... ;o) lol" Agree with all this. There is no questioning their achievements. There is no questioning of the array of fabulous players they have had, They have been used to success and any county manager that fails to land Sam is deemed a failure. Kerry folk are sore losers but as the chap said: Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser. Their inability to recognise Dublin's achievement for what it was surprised and disappointed me. The venom with which some of them referred to certain Dublin players was nasty and cowardly.
I wish I was more like Jimbo,- he doesn't give a fig for the naysayers and begrudgers and is happy to bask in our achievement. Fair play to him.
I agree with you on our prospects. I don;t believe Dublin can win an All-Ireland this year. The new defenders lack guile and experience. I'm not sure Mick Fitz is at full tilt. You can't replace the likes of Philly and Jonny. It'll will take a while for the recent introductions to settle in. I am concerned by Cluxton's restarts. There was a time when he got into a rhythm with them and hit his man every time over long periods of a game. That ain't happening anymore. Fenton's form is improving and Howard is going really well. If there any grounds for optimism its the form of Basquel and Con. Scully again will not get you many scores but his grafting and link play -particularly his foot passing- is not what it was though there are signs of a return to form.

I think the loss of Jonny this year will prove costly unfortunately.
MF defo not at full tilt.
Lee is gonna be some player but needs more experience.
Our bench is stronger and our attacking options, other than free taking, has improved.
The FB line is my major worry. But hopefully I am proved wrong. ;o)

You behave like a self appointed policeman in a Dublin GAA thread when I express a view that is shared by many Dublin Gg fans., but you're not so quick to tread on your buddy's toes when he indulges in cowardly insults . All in all I think this year has been a positive step for our Hurlers and Management team." I'm looking forward to it, both games. Been a few years since we had a day out on big hurling day and we usually do well. Some great days including beating Limerick Thurles twice and Galway in Tullamore.
Odds against us on Saturday but they'll be well prepared I think so Clare will not be getting anything handy although you'd imagine they'll have a bit in hand. One thing i be hopeful of is that defence has been very tight so far and conceded just 3 goals in 6 matches, huge turn around on recent years. The Galway one was a bit of a mess really as Eoghan O'D was changing his boot at the time on sideline!
So if they can restrict Clare that way and turn it into a dog fight and be still there going into last quarter I'd nearly fancy them as they've finished well in all games. Certainly won't run out of steam for sure.
