Thanks Clooney. Clare were not far off either, and would have almost certainly beaten Limerick, but for Cathal O'Neill. When he left other young men stepped up to the plate.

Well played Limerick. Tipp were favorites to win that. Long may your success continue. Is there any link to watch the game back?

Its a disgrace that he could not play in final because of this stupid rule the GAA do a lot right, but then come up with a stupid rule like this not it touch with grassroots, politically correct rubbish . Hopefully enough og an outcry and they will see sense & revisit this rule next yera It was a terrific game Adam English goal superb overall Limerick more balanced team deserved win clooney (Clare) - Posts: 872 - 05/05/2022 11:16:34 2415009 Link 0 |

Great performance really. Couple of lads who can definitely make the step up.

It's strange Clooney but other Limerick forwards have stepped It up in the absence of O'Neill and in the longer term this will help them. In the Clare game a few of the other good Limerick forwards were standing back letting O'Neill lead the charge but since then they have taken on the mantle and look serious players themselves now because of that. We looked to have found a few defenders in the full back line as well, they made a few mistakes as well but at times they were 1 on 1 with Tipp forwards and no help within 50 yards of them and won a lot of those individual battles.

Updewell I'm in agreement, think definitely 2 or 3 defenders who will add something in next few years..I like the tackling and very few frees conceded..also can I just compliment ref last night,he really helped with flow of the game and didn't hand cards out Willy nilly..he also allowed physical contact from both sides..very enjoyable game of hurling.. Thank you. I did; a fine game. Limerick that bit stronger, overall. I enjoyed the game.

Tremendous display by the U20's last night which is in marked contrast to the first night out against Clare when I thought they were just downright awful. It was a really good game to watch. Standard of play was very good and there were some excellent scores take. I love to watch good forwards doing their business and it's a pleasure to see players take scores like what we saw last night. Dealer (Limerick) - Posts: 835 - 05/05/2022 16:00:09 2415095 Link 0 |

Totally agree re Limerick forwards v Clare. Now Clare's Savage work rate on the night had an awful lot to do with it, but five our forwards didn't fire that night. After the cork & Waterford games I wondered were they standing back to let O'Neil preform. Mullins might have had very little time with O'Neil and when he came in the the other five just didn't know their roles. I'm not sure but it was a different forward unit without him.

Completely agree. Which couldn't have been said after Clare game. Always amazing how games bring on individuals. Really like the look of Thomas at 2. Reminds me of a young Sean Finn at that age group

Good win for Limerick; quite a bit off sync, though. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 1888 - 08/05/2022 16:09:27 2415599 Link 1 |
Great win considering they were anemic in that first half. The ref was terrible throughout. He's a bad ref but doesn't like limerick. He's a ref where you have to hit the deck yo have any chance of a free. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 08/05/2022 16:53:03 2415610 Link 0 |
I saw at least 6 struggling towards the end of the match with knocks. That'll dictate next weeks team.

U20s won't play next week and at this stage it's 4 weeks to Munster final-is it risking a bit of rustiness resting fellas next week. I say go on and take on Clare full tilt and let the cards fall whatever way they do.

I was very frustrated at half time and indeed for a significant chunk of the second half. Though our full back line was good all the way through and Nicky was unbeatable but we struggled up the field. Thought Hannon was good at centre back but both wing backs were struggling and Hayes was wasted as a corner forward. I really thought Hegarty and Gillane were crucial to the win. DO'D was our best midfielder and no question about it. Cathal O'Neill can be happy with his display which ended with a leg injury and our subs - Reidy, Boylan and Flanagan made a big difference.
