What really happened we will never know. It was a breach of team protocol by a panel member.

Hi a chairde,

My name is Aoife Curran and I work for a Belfast-based production company called Below the Radar TV. We are currently working on our new series for TG4 titled 'An Talamh Naofa', in which we cover 'a day in the life' of four GAA stadiums on match day. In our next episode, we will be covering the Munster Senior Hurling final, which will hopefully be taking place in Semple Stadium, Thurles, on the 5th of June.

We are on the hunt for Limerick supporters with a tale to tell about the GAA and an interesting story which we would be able to cover as part of our next episode, providing Limerick are in the final! Spoken Irish is preferred, but we would love to hear from you anyway. If you know anyone who would be perfect for this, and who would be happy to be filmed on match day, you can give me a call on 00447495006177 or email me at [email protected]

Go raibh maith agaibh!

You might let us qualify first for the Munster final.

Obviously couldn't agree on whether it was a red card or not!

Probably took the directive about bating Tipp on Sunday too literally

Great to be in Thurles last night, and to see Billy's lads continue the journey. In bonus territory now - with huge progress made already in 2022. The only downside was the lack of support. The core Limerick football supporters were there, but these lads deserve a much bigger backing from across the GAA community.

Hayes has to go back wing back and Hegarty has to stop swinging the Hurley .

A few comments on yesterday's game. The backs were outstanding. Always helps when will o donoghue is playing like a beast further outside the field.
Stating the obvious, Byrnes was incredible, playing the hurling of his life.

For Clare Tony Kelly was out of this world. Excellent performance by the team too considering Ian Galvin couldn't play and there's still 1 or 2 more to come back like ourselves.

Thankfully the narrative regarding hego I'd starting to change. A deplorable act by the clare player. Delighted management are challenging that yellow.

A bit of a worry for me. We all expect the lads to come back firing. Fair enough for gillane because he's been superb. But casey and lynch to be at full tilt is a tall order. This was seen with seamas. He needs game time. I hope the overall shooting will improve from everyone. At times it has left teams in the match

On the discipline stuff, I'd imagine Lyons this morning will be dreading his assessment following the game. He erred in giving a yellow card to Gearoid for the line ball. That's an open and shut technical fact. But what he did for the second yellow is scandalous for a ref looking to climb the ladder. He didn't see the incident himself so he consulted the linesman which is correct. The linesman didn't see the incident so he went to the umpires which is fine. The problem is that the umpires didn't see it either so either the umpires gave him bad information or more likely - he just guessed. He figured it was Gearoid Hegarty. He bought the dive from the Clare player and he guessed. That's awful process for a ref. I wonder will he admit that?

I get that reffing an interco hurling match is an impossible task so I have genuine sympathy for current refs but you can't just guess. Also he needs to have a big chat with his umpires who let systematic holding and wrestling in front of them go unchecked.

One last comment on discipline is that David Reidy - the Clare No 26 yesterday needs to have his cards marked. He behaved like a soccer player yesterday. A better ref than Lyons would have booked him much earlier than he did.

All said, I'm very pleased with the result and the performance. I know that not everything is dusted yet but if you'd offered us Clare in a Munster Final and no Waterford in the All Ireland series - that's an amazing outcome. I was beyond surprised when I saw the team announced on Friday night that we were going full strength but it seems that JK no longer has a hang up about naming dummy teams and he rightly in my view pulled 3 of the starters. I'm particularly grateful that he pulled Aaron as he needed that game like a hole in the head.

Regarding the team selection. Hayes should go back to No 7 with O'Neill coming into half forward with Cian to come back in after the Munster final. I thought that Byrnes and Nash were brilliant again. TK is pretty good too but the rest of the Clare forwards struggled. Our issue is that our attack was no where near as effective nor as efficient as they usually are which is to be somewhat expected when you look at the players that we didn't or couldn't deploy.

Bottom line - Lets stick to the plan. It's working

Totally agree. Any time I'm in Ireland, I try to go to as many games as possible. I remember the last time I saw Limerick footballers play was about 2012 in Portlaoise against Kildare in the qualifiers. It was a night when Limerick put in a stoic performance…seconds from beating a hotly fancied Kildare. Alas, it wasn't to be.

But what surprised me, was I'd an empty car, driving up from a certain parish in south-east Limk. I thought the locals would be mad up for the game. Between cousins, relatives, and "football" people, the only person who went to the game with me was an 18-year-old cousin. I couldn't believe it. They just had no interest in going.

I was quite loud about what they missed, later that night when back in the pub. The Yank put a few of them to shame.

Here's to throwing the kitchen sink at Kerry. Unfortunately, I won't be home for it. It'd make for a mighty weekend in Killarney.

If you put Hayes back to 7, who do you propose to drop. All The defence were brilliant yesterday, but Mike Casey was outstanding. When I saw him on Peter Duggan, a man about 8 inches taller than him, I said 'oh **** it, we might be trouble here'. I cannot say how delighted I was that he proved me utterly wrong and gave a rip roaring display of old time Full Back Hurling and when he hit the deck, with his head opened, he immediately jumped back as the old Mick Mackey song said 'all eager for the fray'. No I cannot see anyone in that defence being dropped, even to facilitate a player of Kyle's prowess.

The footballers are never going to get a big support. The following just isn't there. They are doing great with the resources they have. I ll go to the Munster final but I don't particularly like Gaelic football and they ll probably lose by 15 points

I'd agree. With lynch casey o neill Flanagan out at various stages we needed Kyle in the forwards. We're blessed with an excellent defense and bar injury I see hayes staying where he is. I've a strong suspicion that hayes will put up a big score very soon. His shooting needs work and he's getting a few games under his belt now.

Watched back the game last night and 2 things stuck out to me:
Limerick played very vanilla hurling - we hit a lot of ball long and didn't go through the lines to the same extent that we normally do. Some of that could be because DO'D and Gillane weren't on but I thought we played a lot more direct than we normally do.
Kyle Hayes is not a good shooter - I definitely want him back at No 7. I like Dan but he's no where as dynamic as Kyle in that half back line when Hayes can stay wide and dominate up and down that wing.

I think we need to understand how the opposition are setting up against Limerick this year. They are dropping 13 behind the Limerick 65 on our puck outs and closing off that space in front of gillane and Flanagan that was always there when our HF line pushed up. They are not allowing Limerick that free flowing overlap and making the space for the shooter. Hayes was brilliant at both these. I think at 7 his ability to arrow ball to opposite corner was a huge threat but that's been closed off in large parts. This tactic is making Limerick go long and you need a big man up there. I think he's had a very fractured year minutes wise and I feel persisting with him at 14 will reap big rewards when he gets his shooting boots on.

Limerick are also missing a lot of forwards through the round Robin. Flanagan Lynch O neill Casey have all even absent and hayes was needed. We aren't getting the most out of him yet but I'm sure it's coming.

Also from here on you'll see every team go route one 85% of the time against Limerick. Teams have learned from corks naivety/arrogance that you simply can't work your way through Limericks middle 3rd. The turnover rate high up the field is just too high when doing it and coughs up an amount of scores.

The season really starts now for this group and I feel we'll see performance ramped up in a big way on June 5th and a big marker laid down. Casey and lynch are close. Gillane DoD and o neill will be nice and fresh.
