Replying To dave1988:  "Don't think it's anything to do with Davy Burke. Maybe Jim came calling or maybe with a young family he wasn't able for the travelling. All I know is Burke needs to replace him with someone just as good or better but I can't see that happening. Good to hear Harney and Ronan Daly are back again this year with Cian McKeon and Conor Daly going travelling. Will we ever get a year where we have everyone around"
Are Ultan and Ronan definitely back? Be major bonuses, disappointed to hear the other lads going but they owe us nothing, hope they enjoy the travels and we might see them play for the Rossies again.

Any more news on more retirements or others leaving the panel?

Davy Burke must have been in the Hyde yesterday and spoke to a couple media lads because all that news came out yesterday afternoon.

You can be sure Davy was in the Hyde.
As for McHugh if travelling and distance was the issue he should have said so and pulled out in July.

Won't be joining up with Jim this year as he said at the weekend that his backroom team is complete when asked about Karl Lacey joining up.

Has never been a year where we had everyone around, even Enda Smith remarked on that a while back. Good to be getting players back (Hareny,R Daly) to cushion the blow of losing players. Cathal Heneghan,Tadhg O'Rourke have made good progress on their injuries two players we hadn't available for selection during this years championship.

Agree if he was having doubts earlier he should have just left. Its put Davy in a tough spot but from what I have heard about Davy it won't bother him to much. Davy is the main man in the dressing room and he wouldn't want someone there not 100% behind everything

Mark had been training up until last week. I'd find it hard to believe its down to the travel, as other posters have mentioned he would have stepped away in July if that was the case. A clash of personalities or not getting enough say in how things are being done would be my guess.

Ya that could be the case. It's strange anyway

What would be going on at the moment is trials held with new or newish players than any training and many of those players won't make the panel for the NFL. Players that was on the 2023 panel that has committed again would be doing their gym work and collective training comes after that for the season ahead.

Coaching especially from a county away from your own is a big commitment and Mark McHugh's decision would be based on where he stood from now until June and we all have a lot going on in our lives and even the best made plans can suddenly change. Davy Burke with his contacts in the sport and respect he's earned won't have any issue to bring in a good replacement.

Any word on Ultan Harney for 2024? He'd be a mighty addition.

Mc Hugh saw the writing on the wall and headed for the hills.

The talk is that Ultan is available. Big addition. He had a good year in 22.

Management merry-go-round time of year again.
Any rumours flying about out there?
I only heard one, Shane Curran possibly to Strokestown.
I thought Strokestown have someone in place/lined up already, I wasn't given a name though.
And if that is not confirmed, then Cake would hardly go there and I'm sure Strokestown wouldn't go there either!!

Have Roscommon any Saturday night games (away) in the national league next year?
I presume the Dublin match will have to be on a Sunday as it is the last game, and all games will have to be played at the same time?

Talk that the Dublin game has been swapped with Derry away whom we'll play last now. Dublin for round 3 on a Saturday night February 17th.

Thanks Analyser.
I was just anxious to book some accommodation in advance for perhaps some of the away fixtures. Did not want to book a wrong date or a Sunday night if the match may have been on a Saturday.
See no reason why the GAA fixtures committee cannot meet reasonably early and decide the definitive final dates and times.

It's past time they were out in public alright.

Well done to Castlerea on a hard earned and deserved Connacht Intermediate title success this afternoon in Tuam.

A team built on a solid defence and that was very much seen again today. Midfielder Michael Conroy given Motm and and one of the defender could have won it imo. Adam McDermott at the other end of the field had his influence also

Not many giving Brigids a shot on Sunday, harsh on them? I haven't seen much of Corofin, but Brigids are a very tidy outfit.

Brigid's didn't impress in the semi final against Mohill so that probably has something to do with.

I'd say so - They may prefer being written off
