Last minute change of plans meant I wasn't able to travel to Tuam today for Menlough v Michael's so had to make do with GBFM radio commentary.
Seems as if Michael's were always chasing the game once Menlough got the goal in the first half. They seemed to be able to maintain that 3 point gap at least for most of the rest of the game.
Would St Aidan's be a similar level to Michaels?
Was surprised to hear they were relegated to junior for next year.

Hard luck to Michaels, good start for them leading 0-3 to 0-2 then Menlough had a real purple patch scoring 1-3 without reply after that it was what we have we hold from Menlough as defensively they gave little away, retained possession very clever and picked off scores on turn overs. In winter football it's hugely important to have good free takers and in Hughes Menlough certainly had that.

Connacht campaign short and not so sweet for Michaels, Fiachra Henry who was injury doubt coming into this game hobbled around for majority of game yet still manged to score 6 of Michaels points 10 points. A league and championship double has still been a memorable year for them.

Sounds too easy for Brigids.
Obviously the Coolera lads delighted to win Sligo and sod Connacht.

Routine win for Brigids 9 points ahead at half time match won and played through the motions 2nd half. Ben O'Carroll superb with 0-7 to his name. Conor Hand also impressive with a couple of points. Injuries the biggest concern for Brigids moving forward Sean Trundle off at half time, Brian Stack was in a lot of distress before walking off midway through the 2nd half Ruaidhri Fallon had to come off with 10 mins to play. With all three defenders off the field the Sligo champions got their goal.

Comfortable win for Brigids but has been very much dampened with the Brian Stack injury. Hopefully it's not as bad as feared as it would be a disaster for Brigids and possibly Roscommon down the line. Has probably been the county teams most important player the past few years along with Enda.

Well done to Enda Smith on winning All Star. Mad to think we have been waiting since 2001 to win one, The likes of Shane Curran,Donie Shine,Conor Devaney,Frankie Dolan etc unlucky over the years.

Yes. Well done Enda. Just shows how good he was this year when he wins an All star playing on a team that didn't get past the last 12 in the championship. 22 years is a long wait for an All star but it's the same length of time since Roscommon won a Connacht title at home and a further ten years since we reached an All Ireland semi final. Let's hope for a big 2024 for Roscommon. I think we can go a long way. This year promised a lot but finished in disappointment by the Lee.

Delighted for Enda Smith in winning a very well deserved All Star. One of the best selected All Star teams in years. All four Derry players deserved selection for example and they are not my favourite team by any means.
You are certainly right Analyser is saying that Frankie Dolan was unlucky in not winning an All Star in 2003. Kicking 12 points against Offaly and following it up with 13 points against Kildare in the next game was still not good enough, with 6 forwards selected instead of him. In the past the smaller counties hardly ever got a look in.
Well done again Enda. Great lift for your club Bolye and the county.

Great achievement for Enda smith, it's even more annoying thinking back to the cork game, where if we won he would have got back to Croke park to display his skills on the biggest stage, hopefully this gives hope to the rest of players to up there game and may encourage fellas who didn't play last to come back into the panel

Well done to Castlerea into the Connacht final with a three point win in Markievicz park. Strength and focus of their team this year has been defensively under Dara Bruen they conceded 1-42 in 6 games coming into that Connacht semi final and just 0-9 conceded today. Also helps to have a forward as good as Adam McDermott scoring 2-2 (1f) of his team's 2-6 today.

Its Monivea Abbey (Galway) or Kilmeena (Mayo) in the Connacht final who play tomorrow in Tuam.

Frankie Dolan scored 1-38 in 6 championship games in 2003 only Peter Canavan scored more.

Frankie actually had a higher scoring average than Peter that year. Frankie had a sa of 6.833 over his 6 games. Peter played 8 games and had a sa of 6.375 while also playing with a very strong team.
All the more reason why we should celebrate Enda's All Star this year as they are very hard won and it is a great achievement. Hopefully it might also give the Roscommon panel a timely boost before the heavy pre-season training, and encourage the likes of Ultan Harney / Cian McKeon etc to return to the fold after their travels.

Frankie should have got one in 2003. He was kicking points from everywhere. If it was David Cliffford now, people would be salivating. Ros also got to the All Ireland quarter final in '03 unlike this year's last 12 exit. Mickey Freyne was our first All star and Harry Keegan won most awards of any Roscommon player( 3 All stars). Is Harry Keegan Roscommon 's best player post say 1970. I think he is.

Was all too easy for Brigids last weekend it was far from that this afternoon as it took Brigids until the 45 minute to hit the front and the goal a minute later key to winning set up by Ben O'Carroll and scored by Ciaran Surgue.

Credit where it's due to Mohill and how Eamonn O'Hara had them set up to make the win hard earned but Brigids will know a simliar performance against a Corofin will mean a certain defeat

Davy Burke speaking after today's match said Conor Daly and Cian McKeon are gone to Australia but door left open should they decide to return home early.

Mark McHugh gone from the management team saying traveling was the issue won't be easy to find a suitable replacement the the new season around the corner.

Mark McHugh gone, it's a big blow for Roscommon. Davy must be a hard man to work for? Big changes after one year!!

If Mark McHugh has just made that decision it seems very late in the year to be letting the county board and the players know. If travelling was indeed the issue surely he knew that many months ago unless his personal circumstances have changed recently?
I wonder if Jim McGuinness has had a word in his ear? Mark was the Donegal sweeper for a few years and Jim and himself would know each other very well. Jim also seems to be able to get lots of financial resources for his teams (Training camps etc) which might also influence a potential trainer getting involved. (Above is total guesswork as I admit that I do not have an inside track in either Roscommon or Donegal)
Roscommons defence certainly improved during Mark time in Roscommon and we became much harder to score against. It will be very interesting to see who the new replacement in Roscommon will be, and will there be another change in playing strategy/style? Interesting times ahead.

Don't think it's anything to do with Davy Burke. Maybe Jim came calling or maybe with a young family he wasn't able for the travelling. All I know is Burke needs to replace him with someone just as good or better but I can't see that happening. Good to hear Harney and Ronan Daly are back again this year with Cian McKeon and Conor Daly going travelling. Will we ever get a year where we have everyone around

Like Groundhog Day again. It's bad enough loosing enough mark hugh but also losing mc keon and Daly is a real blow. Mc keon loss will be the worst of them, his direct running and shooting are irreplaceable for us
