Replying To PierreBezuhov:  "Would it? Sigerson played in Dangan last night with no issues."
Yeah, played in woeful conditions. Ask the 70ish lads involved in both panels would they rather play in the Dome or play in last nights conditions in Dangan on a wild January night. I'm sure you'd have a resounding majority.

These FBD games in the Dome can be streamed. Not ideal for the older generation I know, but better than being out in the weather conditions the Sigerson game was played in.

These are mere challenge games, let the lads play in the Dome and at least we see some fast moving football.

Last years FBD games were a great standard compared to years gone by, because of the Dome.

Sunny weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday so no outdoor pitch would be waterlogged this weekend."
These games are mere development games. Indoor is fine. As mentioned they are streamed so you can watch from the comfort of your sitting room.

Bigger game in two weeks under lights in Castlebar. Probably get 10k or thereabouts at that game.

Yeah, the lakes of rain will be gone after half a day's drying. Will you stop!

A bigger crowd wants to attend than is allowed so it's not fine. @TanCanRan plenty of club, college and other inter County games have been played outdoors this month already time to start paying attention

I can't understand why Rob Finnerty plays a full game last Friday in the dome, a game Tuesday night above in Convoy in Donegal and then picked to play again this Saturday. The season is going to be long enough

Talking sense won't go down well with a bunch of lads on here I'm afraid.

100%. When they are deciding in advance where these games will be played they ain't going to know exactly if the weather will cause postponements or not. Cannot predict the future etc.
But in early January there is a fair chance of bad weather so it makes sense to use the Dome.
The league starts in two weeks so there's no room in the calendar for any refixture.
So it makes sense.
And I say that as someone who was at the Leitrim game last week but could not get a ticket for tomorrow's game.
Will have to make do with the stream. Not a big deal. I'll get over it,

The dome is great. It's the envy of the other provinces. Play the games there. It's a great novelty factor for the players - they love it. Keeps them fully engaged in this horrible part of the year for weather. Enjoy it lads, there'll be plenty of time on grass soon enough. Playing pitch surfaces now is lunacy - soil compaction, waterlogging, root structure torn up, zero growth cos of low soil temperatures. You'd know a lot here have never looked after gaa pitches.

You are talking more about fields to graze cattle than top of the range sand based pitches that will be hosting many matches in weeks and months ahead.

My main point is in regards to the availability of tickets. They were sold out in matter of minutes because of the small capacity venue. John Prenty said only 1,000 to 1,200 was to be sold. Nobody can argue that's too small for Galway v Mayo competition match.

Now i know plenty especially on here had plans to watch via a stream which could also have been done for outdoor matches however there is many 1000s that would have liked to attend but can't because of the venue choice and in that regard the Dome is not great.

One thing strikes me looking at panel for mayo match every single one play with senior clubs hard believe no intermediate clubs or juniors have any good players lucky the cliffords not born in Galway or they never get a chance ,,

Handy win for Jarlaths in Tuam today puts them into a Connacht semi final. They haven't really had a proper test yet so it's hard to know how strong they are but they do have a strong spine with Kyle Gilmore in goal and a few more Galway minors in Ross Coen, Vinny Gill and McGlinchey in midfield who could be very good.

Sure Shane Walsh was intermediate player for his Galway career to date. Lucky he wasn't born in Galway, or he'd have never gotten a chance, I suppose.
Kerry only have 8 senior clubs. If it was the same in Galway, you'd have a decent chunk of the panel from intermediate clubs and below.
Niall Daly and Gleeson played last year and Mulkerrins also would have only for injury.

Good win for Jarlaths, Ballinrobe were disappointing.
Ross Coen , Robbie Winston, and Finn Mc Intyre were standout along with Vinny Gill.

Your club must be in that bracket so...

Great to see James Mc named on bench. Hopefully he gets a clean run from injury, then we'll see if he reaches his potential

Cry us a river. There was a monsoon outside last night and these are challenge games.

This is a shambolic first half from Galway. Pathetic on so many fronts. A lot of questions raised on what we're at.

Triple scores at half time. Big psychological advantage handed to McStay, Rochford and McHale and the Mayo team right at the start of the year. For the young Galway fans who were just coming back in big numbers, you can't just capitulate and lose all momentum by getting hammered by your biggest rivals and neighbours. They don't allow it to happen but we manage it often enough! No fire in the belly. No tactical nous from our sideline. Worrying and very frustrating. We'll see what this second half brings!!
