The Colm Smith who came on late for Sean Johnson, does anybody know if his club is Cootehill or Kingscourt ?

Fair play on a good win yesterday lads.
Not only did you give Tyrone a tidy beating, it seems you also smashed up half their team in the process.
Colm Smith = cootehill. Him and McCutcheon will be big players for you this year I think.

Looking at the team of the week I thought Farrelly as net minder did a great job and must have been very close to being named on the team of the week. Nice to see our full back nominated in the number 9 shirt well done Killian

Killian can play anywhere on the field. Gerry Smith really should have being in the team of week.

why do some reviews of the game state that Michael Argue came on and scored 2 points. what's the story there, It was clearly Niall McKiernan.

Niall Mc Kiernan wore the no. 9 jersey coming on - the number that Argue was on the programme - hence the confusion

Let's hope Mattie keeps him at full-back and not do what the previous manager did and pick him everywhere only where he should be...

Keep him at full back?

He played the whole game yesterday at midfield.

Good to get the win yesterday - wouldn't get too excited all the same . With all the talk about attacking It looked like more of the same to me - couldn't see any noticeable difference from last year. He has too much history of this nonsense . Great performances , I thought, from Gerry Smith, Padraig Faulkner , Paul o Connor , James Farrelly , Niall McKiernan to name a few. Not happy though with the positioning of Martin Reilly ( playing far too deep & getting caught in possession too often ) .

Martin Reilly had a job to do and done it well. You still need to defend well regardless of how much attacking football you'd like to see. Also hard to judge much with conditions they way they were. Thought the whole full back line done well. The aimless high ball into forwards didn't really work.

Well done to the Cavan panel on Sunday and the best of luck to Mattie in his endeavours to bring success to Cavan. I was appreciative and supportive to Terry and I intend to be the same to the present manager, unless something changes my opinion. I could see a change in the style of play even at this early juncture, hold up tactics were not overly used, the ball was definitely in forward motion more often, quicker and with purpose. I like this method of play, it is pure, simple and requires top levels of basic skills of the game. I hope that Mattie and Co. continue as they started and success is their prize. None of the younger lads looked out of their depth and gelled well with the more senior players. No doubt the more senior players played a commendable role in this gelling process.

Replying To JonSmith:  ""It's a great start. I'm absolutely delighted - the effort of the players there was fantastic. The players that weren't there, well, they have to earn the right to get in.

"The one thing we said before the game started, this calendar year in Cavan, if you get the jersey, you keep the jersey. As an example, Gerry Smith there was outstanding, an absolutely fabulous game.

"If Dara McVeety or Conor Moynagh or Gearoid McKiernan want that jersey, they're going to have to take it off Gerry. And I think he wants to hold on to it."

The above is a quote from the Celt from Mattie today. This is more like what we want to hear instead of the 'We'd be delighted to have the lads (that are working in London) back at any stage if they become available'
Focus on the lads who are there for Cavan and the lads who want to be there, this will foster a culture of excellence within the squad. Well done Mattie and well done to a group of largely inexperienced players who got the win today."
a quote from the Celt, or merely the normal weekly drivel

Before anyone gets carried away with the normal, future is blue, the Anglo Celt is coming home, Cavan for Sam etc etc - Tyrone have only been back training in the last 2 weeks, their training sessions consisted for 2 Gym Sessions & a few games of Basketball...now compare to Cavan, who have been back in October/November doing 800 meter runs on the Army barracks Football pitch.

So, yes, good to get a win under the belts for the new manager, good to get new blood bedded in - but please, lets wait til until the meaningful games are played before passing judgement.

Yes, Terry brought us to Division 1, took him 5 years to do so - but the ultimate goal of reaching an Ulster Final was a must, and lets face it, he failed miserably. Terry will remembered for his bringing the Black Death to Cavan, which drove hundreds of supporters away from Breffni Park.

As for Jonsmith - still spouting nonsense Jon
