A quick google there shows Ross Munnelly played minor in 2000 and u21 in 2002,2003. So you're 0 outta 3 so far. Bluffer

He played as a back minor and U21s .. read the thread .. is about forwards. .. you know the things we haven't got!!

Replying To cavanman47:  "Well that's not the original question you asked.

The debate was that those u21 teams didn't have top class forwards. And they didn't. Terry did fantastically to win so much without having 1 top forward at his disposal.

He gave pretty much every forward from those teams a chance at senior level. I don't think any did enough to nail down a regular place. And their club performances would back that up.

He built his team around a forward duo of dunne and keating. Both opted out of the panel for non footballing reasons."
Yes he game every U21 a chance . No manager in the history of Cavan football had the luxury of being able to use over 100 underage players at Senior level.
When he left we had no full back 1 midfielder and no centre forward in those key positions. You mentioned Keating and Dunne... he didn't bring them through.. nor Johnston nor Martin Reilly nor Mackey.. what forwards did he actually bring through?? Of all the forwards that he had to choose from at underage level what forwards did he bring through that are regulars on the Senior team????

Why did no other manager have that luxury?

None of them because none of them are/were good enough.

Who, based on their performances at club level, would you deem good enough to be regular starters at intercounty level!?

TH miles ahead and I can't believe I'm saying that. Why give up kick out in second half. His subs are so strange it's mad.

Young U21s that came into the Senior set up from 2012 were discard way too easily just because they had a few bad games at Senior level .
See there was so many up and coming young lads about at the time it was easy for the management to discard them and try new ones.. But players got fed up and lots left..

Now the well has run dry and there not much coming through so we have to persevere with what we have.
Mattie won't have the luxury of having a 100 players to choose from like the last man had.

You said McManus was the only high profile player who didn't play as a forward at underage level... I proved he wasn't.. subject closed. You should do your reshearch rather than listen to hearsay!

So now attack the new manager time is it, will you all wise up he took over after the season was over he saw no players play give him at least until this time next year before you attack him. It has got to be sole destroying to listen to all this bull. Give them some credit from what you saw for the first half. Yes the second half was bad but I am sure they will have learnt from this and please there are still 6 points to play for.

He's had seven competitive games and months of training to put his stamp on it. What evidence is there. A half of football is a sad state of affairs. Enough of the positive interviews. A bit of realism is needed.

Players also have a lot to learn. Same players are getting booked early. Same players are carrying the ball into traffic and getting turned over and same players are constantly fouling in dangerous areas.

The last man had 4 and a half years and 100 players to pick from.
Mattie will get it right.. give him time

Hi Guys!!! Up in Omagh today. We really played well in the first half. Unexpected!! We are still creating the same mistakes in every game, Over carry, Bad passing, Bad decision making.. on the field and of the field.. We don't have the level of fitness to last 70 minutes. Very limited in Players on the bench. I hope we don't back as quick in relation to the likes of Wesrmeath or possibly Derry!!! We keep on talking here about two or three players!! Unfortunately, we still need at least two players fighting for a place - position on the field of play...

Where can we get these Players in Cavan?

Curates egg performance today. First half restored pride in jersey & was huge improvement in Donegal game. We kicked some great points & the goal was well created & taken. Thought that would have gave us extra pep for second half but we were comprehensively outplayed & showed a serious lack of leadership. Heads dropped rapidly & 1 pt shows how poor we were. They ripped through us time after time and our kickouts went from brilliant to disastrous before our eyes. Question for contributors do we need a bit of experience on the line to help Mattie ??
