Sean O Rinn take a long ok at the dublin , Kildare, Monaghan , Down , Tyrone , Cork Galway and Armagh teams that played last Wednesday night and tell me how many are regulars Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - 08/01/2018 13:33:14 2067341 Post Reply Why don't you read my post before you reply. First look at what we had then look at what we are trying and tell me hand on heart that all those that were sitting on the bench last year don't need football as Cavan lads or will they be sitting for another year sitting in the dug out. Off course Monaghan Cork Galway Tyrone can sit back can the rest. Also Cork need to be very careful if they don't have a settled team for they are division two also as are Down and Armagh. Not much point talking to a brick wall if you cannot see the light. I hope I am wrong for sure and that come the last week in January we will get a dream start really it's all that worries me for now. If it goes wrong who will you be attacking yes you guessed the manager and his backroom team. If we lose against Clare it will start this I can guarantee you 100%. So please god they beat Clare to give u a good start thats all that worries me is consolidating our division two status and even better competing for promotion ??? The league starts at the end of January and the last thing you need are injuries to our first team players. Virginia (Cavan) - Posts: 101 - 08/01/2018 14:12:53 2067348 Link 0 |

The league starts at the end of January and the last thing you need are injuries to our first team players. Sensible to send out a second string team. Looks like defensively we were poor but we did score 2-14 all be it by a team that Tyrone hammered with their second string. At the end of the day we need quality forwards and where are they going to come from. Virginia (Cavan) - 08/01/2018 14:12:53 2067348 Post Reply Where have you read that I said we should be playing with our first team players. Now that you mention it are you telling me none of our first team players have played in either of the two McKenna cup game's so far??? Wouldn't judge the team too hard yet but we were poor yesterday. Too many players getting ahead of the ball, then lateral passing and a shot from a bad angle. The coaching is very poor if that is the plan. Modern football is quick kick passing into the danger area and get the defence turned, it's far easier to play from there. kanu (Cavan) - Posts: 181 - 08/01/2018 23:25:52 2067435 Link 0 |

It's sad to say but i think we could be in for a tough league and been relegated in the end it's a tough league esp how the games fall... Dr.Phil (Cavan) - Posts: 109 - 09/01/2018 10:09:20 2067457 Link 0 |

Faulkener played against St Maty's I think. There are several others along with the names mentioned that I hope will be back for the start of the league all going well.

Faulkner has been playing he played both games there, started vs St.Marys, came off the bench vs Antrim Buchanan I don't think is with the set up.. Mackey I hear is only coming down to training when the league starts so he'll hardly play much of the league maybe some sub performances at the back end of it. Martin Reillys status is unknown but a player we could do with for his energy and pace, What is Martin Dunnes story I hear one day he's back another he's not... Johnston could be in the same boat as Mackey tho surely he'd only be submitted to a subs role this year and that might be enough to ruffle his feathers For him to throw his hat at it, Dr.Phil (Cavan) - Posts: 109 - 10/01/2018 08:53:03 2067607 Link 0 |

Very strong Tyrone side named for tonight. Morgan, McCann, Donnelly and Sludden, among other regulars, all added to the mix. Granted its only January but this one could get ugly indeed. MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 493 - 10/01/2018 13:43:55 2067648 Link 0 |

Martin Reilly will be back. He cares too much about Cavan football to walk away. He got married and went on Honeymoon so took a little break and he fully deserved it.

Tyrone 1/10 to win. Mattie should consider what a 20 point defeat could do to the young lads he is insisting on trying out. He should go strong with maybe 3/4 of the better new guys starting in my opinion.

Agreed. Mickey Harte showing he really knows how to use the McKenna cup. Mattie needs to follow suit tonight and pick a team that will resemble his best lineup for early rounds of the league. I have my doubts that he knows what that is.

Fine integrating a few here and there chopping and changing is okay with me but I keep saying we only have less than three weeks to the Clare match. I presume the senior seniors we might call them must be training for it will be impossible to have them player conscious come the Clare match for the lads will not have worked together. Even if they train on the county pitch twice or three times a week between now and the end of the month it will make no difference. Not worried about tonight now but I am worried about the Clare game. They too want to survive in Division 2 so it will not be an easy match. Makes a change from other years where we have looked good in McKenna cup and everyone gets excited. Personally i don't have much of an issue with what Mattie is doing. Some of the mainstay lads already have a lot of miles on the clock and by doing this it might leave them fresher come the summer. ponger (Cavan) - Posts: 616 - 10/01/2018 14:47:50 2067659 Link 0 |

Lads like Fredflint don't seem to want to give Mattie a chance even at such an early stage. Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 10/01/2018 15:32:58 2067661 Link 0 |

Lads like Fredflint don't seem to want to give Mattie a chance even at such an early stage. Until you know the real reasons why so many players are not involved yet then leave the Manager to pick and use what's available to him. If I hear another word about clare il scream! When did they become world beaters??? 6 points will keep us up. We are not fit for div 1 so let's peak for a good run in the championship . Last year we rushed players like McKiernan back from injury for the league and he never performed to his standards after that. I'd rather players peaking from May onwards than the 1st week in February. Relax and give management and players time. Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - 10/01/2018 15:32:58 2067661 Sorry for mentioning Clare again but if you cannot take two points from them who will you take points from. We will have the lads back thats for sure But there is a huge difference in training fitness than match fitness. Martin O'Reillyl G o'K Mackey Johnston have nothing to prove as have several others but the other twenty that were sitting on the bench last season do they not need match time ???.
