Leinster Council had been looking into the possibility of starting their subsidiary football competition this side of Christmas.
With an easing of the closed season rules, December marks the return of intercounty challenge action for lots of teams and the eastern province debated the possibility of starting the O'Byrne Cup later this year.
Meath Leinster Council representative Brian Carberry reported at Monday's county board meeting that a proposal to start the competition in December had been shelved and the 2015 event will be run in January as in recent years.
