Its hilarious! After everything Rangers did ! - one year in the First Divison, fans get a great jolly up traveling around all the smaller grounds in Scotland. Then back in the SPL next season like nothing happened!!!! Celtic fans start crying into your jelly & ice cream ha ha ha...

Like Nothing happened. They just lost a dozen players for zilch. Their Club has been liquidated. The NEWCO is THE Rangers Football Club, new Club, new history. They have been exposed as absolute cheats the stench will stay with them for ever. They are currently owned by a gang of shysters, a lot of their fans are refusing to renew Season Tickets, a second Administration/Liquidation is a distinct possibility.

No bad.monkey, what is hilarious is the understanding and knowledge (or lackthereof) of people like yourself who think this will happen. The fans have spoken (not just the SPL ones) and if the SFA are that stupid that they continue on this crusade to put their team in to Div 1 or a newly created SPL2 then the backlash will be huge and it will be a decision they will live to regret. Part of the proposals that they're conjuring up would mean that up to £250 of a £500 season ticket for Celtic would be distributed amongst the other clubs - regardless of the fact that the visiting teams bring hardly any fans to the games at Celtic Park e.g.

St Johnstone - 382 supporters to 3 games at Celtic Park
Dunfermline - 238 supporters to 2 games
or Dundee Utd who brought the most visiting fans (outside Rangers) with a grand total of 626 supporters in 2 games.

Do you really think that Celtic are going to allow themselves to be used as the cash cow? The Celtic Supporters Associations have been meeting regularly and I can tell you that if (and its a might big if) the proposals go ahead then the backlash will be huge.

If finances mean more than integrity to the SFA then the game in Scotland is completely dead. As it is at the moment there will obviously be a commercial knock on for the SPL but it has happened and they now need to move on and make the game stronger. The fault of what has transpired over the last few months lies only at the feet of Rangers 1872-2012, the SFA and the SPL yet they are trying to make the other clubs and fans pay the price. Given the stance taken by the authorities and the circling of the wagons around their club then it shows to them only one club really matters in Scotland. For this reason we need to see a complete overhaul of both boards with people put in place who will have the good of the whole of Scottish Football at heart. Irnoically, they think they can't do without 'Rangers' whereas the real money makers for the game are Celtic yet they don't seem to care that these proposals could lead to them losing their money makers.

There is also no guarantee that Sevco will go straight back up. There's quite a few decent teams in the 1st division. Especially for a team that has no players.

The R*ngers will not have been given what they are due, but it's not going to be as cut and dried as them going straight back up. Then again i can imagine quite a few "honest mistakes" coming their way.

Ah well, the jelly and ice cream is still all good and their day of reckoning has still not come.......Maybe the sfl will adhere to the mantra NO to the NEWCO.....

tribeinbrum (Galway) - 29/06/2012 14:13:08    1204950

To be honest, in one sense I'm not too bothered where the NEWCO start. Every year the 4 Old Firm games were the highlights of my Soccer year and I'm not too sure what my Soccer life will be without them. What sticks in my throat is that there are Football League Clubs with a hundred years of History who are basically being blackmailed by people being paid to serve and nurture them, to roll over let a NEWCO jump the queue and start 2 Divisions higher then they should, because money is more important then History, more important then Fairness, more important then Integrity. To me this is wrong and I don't want Celtic to be part of it. I don't have any fears of playing the NEWCO, I'd absolutely love to be playing them as I think would most Celtic fans..

Agreed corkcelt - what this has shown the world is that our 'paranoia' was indeed just and is being further proven on a daily basis. Lets look at this hypothetically and say Sevco5088 are parachuted in to the 2nd tier of the league - be it SPL2 or Div1. How can Celtic or any other club for that matter go out and play against them knowing that they are on a level playing field. It will be impossible. Even if they are admitted in to Div 3 then it will also show favourtism as they won't have the 3 years audited accounts required and also will be leap frogging the likes of Cove Rangers who have been applying to join the SFL and meet the necessary requirements that Sevco5088 don't. Again, how can the Div 3 clubs go out to face them on a weekly basis wondering if the decisions they're getting from the officials fair ones, knowing that the ultimate goal of those in charge of the Scottish game is to have them back in top flight football as soon as possible.

Scottish football is over. Any respect gone. No integrity whatsoever.

legendzxix (Kerry) - 29/06/2012 15:27:58    1205038

Well not long until D-Day. It seems one publication in Scotland is trying it's hardest with scaremongering tactics and more pro newco propaganda that is palatable to really scare the rest of scottish football into accepting the cheating gombeens back into the fold.

Hopefully the sfl will judge it on their own merits and say NO TO NEWCO........The clock is most definitely ticking now, and not a taxman in sight yet!!!!!!!

tribeinbrum (Galway) - 03/07/2012 09:39:17    1208006

Tribe - said publication had one of their hacks on Radio Ulster this morning discussing the 30 SFL clubs meeting today and Independence Day tomorrow. The one sided spin that was coming out of his mouth was very hard to listen to - so much so that I tried contacting the station to get them to stop using the DR hacks as their contact men on this issue as this is the 3rd or 4th time in recent months they've had one of them on the air and to get someone impartial on air. It was all doom and gloom for the Scottish game if they make them go to Div 3 and he even said that it was a shared view that putting them in to Div 1 was enough of a punishment. He even went on to say that to put them in to Div 3 would cost the Scottish game millions and would ruin Scottish Football. I near crashed the car at that point! Ruined the Scottish game - I thought Rangers had done that single handedly, well manybe with a bit of help from the SFA and SPL. Cost the Scottish game millions - again, Rangers antics over the last few decades have probably cost more in the grander scheme of things that their expulsion to Div 3 would as it has near ruined a number of clubs who tried to keep up with their spending of money which it transpired wasn't even their own. If I had the final say I know exactly what their fate would be and it wouldn't take a huge asteroid to kick off the event!

Offside_Rule (Antrim) - 03/07/2012 10:08:36    1208044

Yeah Offside. It does seem to be a public crusade by the Daily R*nger to keep them in the topflight........It really is ridiculous.....Celtic should seriously consider their stance with this publication. They have done them no favours down the years and there coverage of the R*ngers Crisis is the most one sided piece of journalism there is. Between there own own journo's and then articles from the likes of Hateley and even Craig Burley siding with Newco it is bordering on a farce at this stage.

I'd boycott it, but for the fact that the stuff they print is hilarious!!!!!

tribeinbrum (Galway) - 03/07/2012 10:22:28    1208061

Well we are at last nearing the end game, Thank God. I must admit I'm sick of all the messing & stories and just want to get back to the Football. I can't believe the SPL Clubs will do an about turn and let them into the SPL, although there would be a certain attraction in having them there and in hammering the s**** out of them. I always felt that being forced into Liquidation and having their players walk for free was the major punishment I wanted them to suffer and my next wish would be for them to be stripped of the Titles they won whilst they were cheating.
I would love if Celtic could get into a bigger League outside Scotland but I accept that is a remote possibility in the immediate future, accordingly I would favour a complete shake up of the Scottish game, with an SPL Premier and an SPL Div. 1 of 14 teams each.Teams playing home & away and then a split with top 6 and bottom 8 having seperate Leagues with another round of Home & away games. I'd favour one automatic promotion & relegation place and a play off system for second promtion/relegation between the second last team in the Premier and 2nd to 4th in Div 1. However I object to this being railroaded through immediately for the bebefit of the NEWCO and I also object to the SFL Clubs being blackmailed re this issue.

corkcelt (Cork) - 03/07/2012 11:35:23    1208150

First off it's about time this was made, but this does smack of a bit of a last ditch attempt to worm there way back into the SPL. All the SPL clubs must remain strong and say NO to NEWCO.........

tribeinbrum (Galway) - 03/07/2012 13:41:09    1208360

Yeah does stink of desperation alright - especially as they wait til it looks like the SFA clubs might reject their Div 1 railroading. I say to Malcolm Murray, away and say 100 Our Fathers, 300 Hail Marys while the SFA clubs have a wee think about it then come back and they'll still say No.

Offside_Rule (Antrim) - 03/07/2012 14:44:56    1208473

The fans sites are saying that the SFL have ruled that a simple majority as distinct from 75% majority will be sufficient to get the NEWCO into Div 1. Obviously they knew that at least 7 Clubs would vote no, so they change the requirements. I now expect the NEWCO to start life in Div 1, however if part of the deal is that they accept the transfer embargo then they are by no means certain of promotion in year 1. What is happening in Scottish Football is morally wrong but like a lot of things in life its all about the money.

corkcelt (Cork) - 03/07/2012 17:36:06    1208721

This is getting beyond scandalous now. The season starts in little over a month and they go and delay the vote on Newco?????

There must be serious pressure to include those merry band of cheats and conmen in the spl.

I don't think Neil Doncaster and co realise they are about to sign the death warrant of scottish football if they force teams to accept Newco.

NO TO NEWCO.........

tribeinbrum (Galway) - 04/07/2012 11:26:14    1209176

Think its a case that the SPL clubs are abdicating responsibility by postponing their vote until after the SFL clubs meet and vote. After reading through Greens newest proposal the devil in me says let them back in to the SPL with their point deductions for the next 3 seasons and their transfer embargo in place so that we can hump them every time we meet. Reality then sets in and brings me back down to earth though as I know that the new establishment team would just take over the favourtism shown to that club that used to ply their trade in Scotland - Rangers, and the 'honest mistakes' would be increasing in number.

Thing is though, assuming that they are given a place in Div 3 how can it be viable for this new club to play their games at the home of the old establishment team. Ticket prices for this Division are a lot lower than they could command in the SPL and added to the fact that their attendances would be hugely down ( ignore the cry from the supporters of the old club who say they will have the same attendances and will follow, follow as history has shown that when push comes to shove they couldn't organise the proverbial drinking session in the brewery nor do they want to dig too deep in to the pockets) then how can they continue to play in a stadium with a capacity of 51,000. Surely if they did try then they will quickly follow follow in the footsteps of Glasgow Rangers.

Offside_Rule (Antrim) - 04/07/2012 12:29:05    1209247

How arrogant are those proposals though Offside. They assume they can survive every season with a points deduction and no players........

No, i would take no joy in thumping them 5/6 nil every time we'd play them (ok maybe a little), its Division 3 or scottish football has lost it's soul.

Neil Doncaster should be sacked on the spot. He's supposed to be independent but is railroading scottish football into accepting newco. He's as bad as the Daily R*nger.

tribeinbrum (Galway) - 04/07/2012 13:41:11    1209342

It's done and dusted at long last!!!!!!!!!!

BYE BYE R*NGERS/NEWCO/SEVCO/CLUB 12!!!!! Welcome Dundee......

tribeinbrum (Galway) - 04/07/2012 14:33:45    1209412

Just beat me tribe, I too expected it to be delayed and was shocked that they actually bit the bullet. Its possible that the SFA did a quick vox pop this morning amongst the SFL Clubs and reckoned they had the numbers to get Sevco into Div.1. If not everything is up in the air, the SFL Clubs are justifiably raging that they have been put in this position.

corkcelt (Cork) - 04/07/2012 14:40:13    1209418

Ha ha just look at the date they have scheduled to meet!

The 30 SFL clubs are due to meet on 12 July to discuss a Scottish FA proposal that would result in a Rangers newco playing in the First Division next season.

Tuesday's meeting at Hampden adjourned with no decisions made, although a vote is expected next time.

Partick Thistle Thistle are the 10th SFL club to voice opposition to a newco in Division One, following announcements from Falkirk, Dunfermline, Raith Rovers, Morton, Livingston, East Fife, Stranraer, Stirling Albion, Peterhead and Clyde.
