The Late Liam Barnes The death of Arklow Gael Liam Barnes on Saturday caused great sadness in the area. Liam was best known as a hurler with the Arklow Geraldine's club and the Wicklow county teams. Exactly a year ago to the day Liam was in the Arklow Bay Hotel to celebrate winning a first Minor hurling championship with Wicklow forty years ago and like everyone else he was in high spirits that day. Liam was also a well known handballer and played for club and county. His remains were removed form his home on Monday evening to Castlemacadam Church for service and interment took place afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.
