 67-year-old wins junior medal in Wicklow | Wicklow disciplinary cases up 25 per cent
The Wicklow Competitions Control Committee had to deal with a record number of disciplinary cases this year, prompting officials in the county to call for greater respect for referees.

A 67-year-old was part of the Aughrim squad which defeated Kilmac/Enniskerry to win the Wicklow junior B hurling championship last Saturday.

On Saturday last, Newtown, Junior B champions, faced Kiltegan, the Junior A champions, in the Swan Cup final. Played in Newtown, the home side was a match for the more fancied Kiltegan for most of the game, and were unlucky to be just pipped by a single point at the end.

Two junior hurling finals are down for decision this weekend as the year finally draws closer to a finish, as the weather plays havoc with the fixtures.

Club Hurling Roundup
Ballyhale Shamrocks and Sarsfields of Cork were victorious in Provincial Club Hurling action on Sunday, while there were county title wins for St. Martins in Wexford and Portumna in Galway, with the added boost of provincial honours for the back-to-back county champions in the West.

With the county football final action pretty much dried up the focus was on Provincial action in Ulster and Leinster today with five games down for decision as St. Eunans, Ballinderry, Cavan Gaels, Éire Óg and Kilmacud Crokes emerged winners.
