Blessington club notes

September 26, 2016

Seniors -Hard luck to the Senior team who were beaten by St Patrick's in the Renault Senior Championship semifinal in Aughrim on Sun 25 Sep on a scoreline of 0-7 to 2-8. That's it for the 2016 campaign. Well done to the team and management for reaching the semis. Baltinglass now face St Pat's in the Final on 8 Oct.

Physio - The club physio will be in the clubhouse on Tues at 7pm. Players training on the night will be given priority.

Workshop - Coaching workshop with John Evans in Ballinakill on Fri 30 Sep at 7.30pm. €10 per coach. The club will reimburse coaches who attend. Text Paul Garrigan 083 4366801.

Ladies

Senior Ladies - Well done to the ladies who had a great win by 1 point to win the B Football Championship Final v Bray in Roundwood on Wed 21 Sep. Ladies also took part in the Senior All Ireland football 7's in Kilmacud Crokes on Sat 24 Sep. Ladies v St Pats at home on Sun 2 Oct at 11am.

Junior Ladies - Training Thurs 6.45 to 8.15pm. Final few training sessions before Minor football commences.

G4M &O -Training Wed 6.45 to 8.15pm. G4M is open to anybody aged 18 and over all are welcome. No previous football experience required. If interested please contact Michelle 0863734748, Sinead 0862446510 or Kevin 087 6123203. Oct 1 - Blessington hosting a Blitz V a number of teams from Kildare and Dublin (Roundtowers, Eireann go Bragh and Broadmills). Kick off 11.30am.

U16's - Our U16 team had a fantastic win over Valleymount on 20 Sep on a scoreline of 7-09 to 3-11 and in doing so won the league. What a great few days for the girls. Well done to the team and management of Dom, Lorcan and Kevin.

U14's - The girls will be playing in the final v Tinahely in Ballinakill on Sun 2 Oct at 1pm. Good luck girls and management.

U11's - NKL U11's away v Rheban at 11am on Sat 1 Oct

Juvenile

U16's - Our U16's play two games this week. On Mon 26 they face Bray away and on Fri 30 Sep they face Avondale at home. This is a play-off situation as Blessington, Bray and Avondale are on the same points. Ple

U10's - Blessington U10s got back to winning ways in Kildare league today in tough match v Carbury U10s.

Hurling - Hard luck to Western Gaels playing in the U12's A Wicklow league final in Ballinakil on Sat 24 Sep who were beaten by Glenealy in the last minute of the game. Well done to this great bunch of lads and management.  

U7's - Our U7 hurlers travelled to Athy on Sun 25 Sep in a blaze of sunshine. A fine game ensued with tight scores all the way through. Superb performances from Brandon Ryan and Callum Jordan Dempsey made Athy work hard. We had a super sub in Jack Doyle aged 4 who took the knocks and kept going till the end to deservedly get Man of the Match cheered on by both sides...one to watch out for in the future. Training on Thurs has come to an end but watch this space and Facebook for upcoming events.

Lotto - No winner of Lotto draw on Tues 20 Sep. Numbers drawn 4-10-11-19. There were 15 Match 3 winners each receive €25. Debbie Hynes, Frances Lambe, Sean Lambe, Claire Lambe, John Coogan, Caroline Melia, Rita Shannon, Bernadette Ellis, Carly Ellis-Keogh, Brendan Mc Garr, Liam Flood, Ethel Miley, John Gammell, Arthur P Hennessy, Will Doyle. Club Notes

Billy Hamilton RIP - It was with sadness the club heard of the passing of Billy Hamilton, Burgage early on Thurs 22 Sep. Beloved husband of Mary and father to Anita and Will. Sympathies to brother Brian and sister Valerie and grandchildren Shane and Amy, son in law Robbie and Daughter in law Orla. Ar dheis De, go raibh a anam dilis.

Engagement - Congrats to Anto McLoughlin who popped the question to Michelle Fadden during the week. Well done Anto, only took you 8 years!

BLESSINGTON  GAA  CLOTHES  COLLECTION - Blessington GAA Club is collecting good quality second hand clothing suitable for re-use. Please fill as many black bin bags as you can - the more we collect, the more our club receives. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT AND WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO INVOLVE FAMILY AND FRIENDS TOO. We accept - All clean unwanted clothes, Bedlinen, Towels and Textiles including Shoes, Bags, Belts and Soft Toys but please keep separate from Clothes and Textiles. Last few day as closing date is 30 Sept 2016. Evening Deliveries will be accepted between 7.30pm &  9p.m. each evening and Sat between 11.30am & 1pm.
