St Patricks GAA club notes

On Tuesday evening the Senior Men were in action against Baltinglass in the League. With it being a home game there was great support for the team up in Dunbur. It was great game, with the lads securing a super win, 1-16 to 2-08. We would like to wish a speedy recovery to dual player Shane Doyle who sustained a broken nose. The next game is on Saturday 29th in Aughrim, where they face Kiltegan in the Championship, throw in is at 6:30pm. Best of luck to all the players and managment.

The Junior A's played against Newcastle in the Championship on Sunday morning in Ashford. The score at half time was 1-04 to 1-01 in favour of St. Pat's, and scoring another 2 points in the second half, they won 1-06 to 1-04. The St. Pat's Team: Ian Murphy, Barry Fitzgerald, Lorcan Smullen, Ronan Connolly (Capt), Aidan Dunne, Chris Kavanagh, Ciaran McGettigan, Joe Quinn (0-01), Bill McHugh, Terry Healy, Shane Dwyer (0-01F), Jordan Pettigrew (0-02F), Johnny Carton (0-01), Sean O'Brien (1-01), Conor O'Brien. Subs: Sean Duffy (Jordan Pettigrew), Simon Alexander (Shane Dwyer), Gary Duffy (Terry Healy), unused: Jack Dunne, Wayne Farrell, Stuart O'Callaghan, Hugh Humby, Jack Kelly, Colin O'Toole and Paul O'Brien. Bill McHugh had an excellent Junior A debut with strong performances by Joe Quinn, Chris Kavanagh and Shane Dwyer in a solid all round team performance in poor conditions. Next up we play Laragh on Sunday 30th in Ashford, throw in is at 11am.

This Tuesday August 25th, our Senior Hurlers play Bray Emmets in Greystones in the Dacia Cars Senior Hurling Championship Round 6. Throw in is at 7pm.

Well done to the County U21 Hurlers and our own Seán Callaghan on making it into an All Ireland Final. Best of luck Seán and all the panel.

Juvenile

The U14 boys travelled down to Arklow on Friday where they faced AGB. At half time they were in the lead, 3-07 to 2-01, and they stayed in front throughout the second half to win the game 6-17 to 8-03.

On Saturday morning 23 players from our U14 and U16 girls' teams took part in the U15 Maynooth Challenge Cup. They played a total of three games, beating Maynooth 7-08 to 1-03, Dunboyne 2-05 to 0-01 and Na Fianna 4-12 to 3 goals. They were the better team overall leading them to the Cup victory. On the day they scored 14-25 and only conceded 4-04. Well done to Brian McSorley, Martin Byrne, Dave Whelan, Joanne Kavanagh, Captain Saoirse O'Reilly and all the girls, another great achievement.

On a sun drenched Tuesday in St. Patrick's National School our U8 hurlers went through their paces in preparation for taking on Carnew, Bray and Glenealy in Friday's Go Games. Inspired by watching Seamus Callanan, Iarla Tannion and others last Sunday, our players of the week were U8 Finn Dunne and U7 Anton Barry.

Next Saturday morning after the nursery and the U14 ladies match we will have free face painting in the club for anyone who is heading to the match many thanks to Michaela Kennedy and Caroline Cullen.

All Ireland Super Draw

The club is holding an All Ireland Super Draw with thanks to the Croke Park Hotel and Dooley Poynton. Two draws will take place: the first draw will take place on the September 2nd and September 16th. The prizes for Draw one include two Premium Level Tickets for the All Ireland Hurling Final and one night stay in the Croke Park Hotel for two. The prizes for Draw two include two Premium Level Tickets for the All Ireland Football Final and one night stay in the Croke Park Hotel for two. Tickets are €10 each, 3 for €20 and 7 for €40. Tickets bought before September 2nd will be entered into both draws. If you wish to purchase a ticket, you can buy them online or contact Stephen McNulty, Alan Lawlor or Georgina Cruise.

Club Lotto

There was no winner of this week's Club Lotto Jackpot of €4,350. Numbers drawn were 14, 19, 21 and 23. The bonus number was 15. Four people managed to draw 3 numbers sharing the prize of €250; Niamh McGettigan, Gavin Caffrey, K/E/E/D c/o E O'Sullivan and Martin Fitzgerald.
