Moran has high hopes

Wicklow minor hurling manager David Moran is confident that the current crop of youngsters can push through to senior level.

Speaking after the All-Ireland MHC 'B' semi-final defeat to Roscommon last weekend, Moran was full of praise for his charges.

A narrow defeat to the Rossies was heart breaking, but there were many positives for the Garden County to take going forward.

Speaking to the Wicklow People, he said: "These are a good bunch of lads. I've been with them now since they've been U16s and they are a good bunch when they get going and it was proven against Roscommon.

"They've got the skills and you can see players there for our under-21s. There's two or three of them going up Roscommon this weekend. They'll be on our under-21 squad and probably pushing to get on the senior county panel in the next year or two.

"The main thing is that we have to get them games and keep them hurling. That's the huge thing. We need more games for our young lads. The more games, the more it helps them."
