Wicklow GAA Awards 2015 - What a wonderful night at the Wicklow GAA Awards 2015 which was held on Sat 24 Jan in the Arklow Bay Hotel. Blessington GAA was very proud of our three winners Barry O'Donovan (Junior A Footballer), Michéal O'Leary (Junior C Footballer) and Mick Curran (Club Person of the Year). Well done to the organisers on a great night.

 

Dinner Dance - Hurry up and get your tickets for the Blessington GAA Dinner Dance will be held in Tulfarris on Friday 30 Jan 2015. Music by Panic Animal followed by DJ till late. Tickets for 3 course meal will be €30 each. Tulfarris are offering a special deal for B &B on the night. Doors open at 7.30pm with Dinner at 8pm. It promises to be a great night. Club 7's - Three very close games tonight Sun 25 Jan  - with no more than three points between any teams in the games. The result is that the final will be between Hardcore (Darren Behan) and Windpower (Brendan Mcgarr) and the shield play off between Blue light (Eoin phibbs) and the Figures (Paul Breen). This kicks off next Sunday from 6.30 pm.

AGM - The Club AGM was well attended last Mon 19 Jan with some great discussions on moving the Club forward in 2015. The highs and lows of 2014 were listed. Michael thanked all the outgoing committee for their work over the year. PRO to be filled at first Exec Meeting.

Hard luck to our club player Jack Cotter and his team mates of Naas CBS beaten in the U16 South Leinster Final today in Dr Cullen Park, by Bunclody. Great achievement getting to the final.

 

Coach training - Award 1 Youth/Adult  €75 per coach - 4th Feb, 25th Feb, 11th March, 25th March, 2nd April, 16th April, 30th April  Baltinglass 7.30pm -10pm. Foundation Football  €10 per coach. Online Material Available Now, Practical 14th February Baltinglass   9.30am-12.30pm. Foundation Hurling  €10 per coach. Online Material Available Now, Practical 14th February Baltinglass   1.30am-4.30pm. Wicklow Coaching and Games are running two online foundation courses. All theory material of these courses can be done online with the practical session of courses taking place in Scoil Chonglais Baltinglass on the 14th of February. Juvenile Notes:

 

U16's - The U16s started their competitive season with a friendly against Celbridge on Saturday. A typical early season work out for the team and a chance to get the cob webs out of the system. The team are preparing for the Leinster League, which is planned for a middle of February start. Training continues as normal.


U14 football training - Training will commence in the Community College on Wed 4 Feb at 7.15pm. Players are asked to be there at 7pm. The Féile Committee held their inaugural meeting on Thurs 22 Jan. Plans and actions are now in place for the Féile Peil na nOg which will be hosted in South Leinster (Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow) this year. If any business would like to sponsor or part sponsor this event you can contact Martin Shannon. Blessington are hosting a boys and girls team and the Féile will take place on the weekend of 26 - 28 June. We will know what teams we will be hosting in early April.

Hurling - Age 6, 7 and 8 will train on Wed 6pm to 7pm in the Community College commencing 4 Feb. The U9, 10 and 11 hurlers will train on either Mon or Tues in Feb. (tbc).

Lotto: Our Club Lotto draw on was held on Tues 13 Jan. There was no jackpot winner of €9,200.  The numbers were 6,18,20 and 21. 6 winners of match 3 numbers - Lisa Charles, Trevor O'Donnell x 2 (Stephen had 2 lots of 3 numbers), Maire Tracey, Marion Carty and Francis Sargent. Each receives €50. Next draw in Murphy's on Tues 27 Jan. Tickets to be returned by 9.30pm as draw will take place at 10pm during the winter months.
