GCA Football Squad News

U13- The Garden County Under 13 Development Squad came together for a training session last Saturday 18th October for what was the second last session this year. The session incorporated a number of possession games and then finished up with a match amongst all the players present. It's great to see the commitment from players even at this late stage of the year.

The final session of the year is on 1st November at 2pm.  All parents are asked to attend. We will be giving feedback to parents on their child's performance during the year.  We will have a number of guest speakers to talk to parents and the players on the day.  As this is was the first year the County have run an U13 Academy squad, the feedback of parents and kids will be invaluable to improve how we do things in 2015.  A cup of tea and sandwich will be served on the day.

U14- The u14s returned to action last saturday with an excellent opportunity to work with a smaller number as over half the squad are still involved in club championship action.

The group went into very intense forwards session. With massive improvements witnessed over the hour session.

Next Saturday sees training continue with more of the squad reintegrating as club activity winds to a close

U15   The Wicklow Under 15 Football Squad  continued their training in Ballinakill last Saturday with Paul Garrigan, Kevin Gill and Denis Mangan taking the session. The session focused on tackling and on and off the ball movement. The players were put into game based scenarios and challenged to see what was the best options to take and when to take them. The Under 15 Squad will have a Strength and Conditioning session next Saturday in Ballinakill at 10.45am. It is important all players who are interested in being part of our Under 16 Football Squad in 2015 attend on the day.
GCA Post Primary - The Wicklow PPS played Knockbeg college last Wednesday in the third round of the Leinster League. Conditions were far from perfect and a large number of the squad were also absent as the result ultimately went the favour of the Carlow men. The next outing for these will be December 12th as they face Wexford schools in the championship. Report on this game is available on gardencountyacademy.com
