Blessington club notes

Senior Notes: Our Junior A's played Aughrim on Sat evening and were beaten 5-08 to 1-14. Best wishes to Jack Gilligan who was injured during the game. Our Seniors had a busy week playing two league games. The first game was on Tues night against Bray and Blessington won by a score of 0-17 to 1 -06. The other game was on Fri night at home to Carnew which Blessington won easily 7-14 to 1-07. The Seniors will play Hollywood on Tues night in the league in Hollywood. There are just two games remaining in the league after this so a win is important. Throw in at 19:15. Please support. Our Junior C team played Dunlavin on Mon and lost. We are waiting on the draw tomorrow night to see who we will play next weekend in the quarter final.

Ladies notes: Hard luck to the Ladies beaten well by Baltinglass in the Championship Semi Final at home on Fri 15 Aug. We wish Baltinglass the very best in the final.

U8 football - We had two teams at the Go Games in Baltinglass on Sat. We played Baltiinglass, Kiltegan and Hollywood. Both teams played very well. Next Go Games are in Valleymount on Sat 30 Aug.

U14 and U16 football/hurling championship
The draw for the U14 and U16 Hurling and Football Championship fixtures took place at the Coiste na nOg meeting in Aughrim on Tues 12 Aug. U14 football had 8 teams so there were two groups. Group 1 - St Nicks, Bray Emmets, Avondale and Newtown. Group 2 - St Pat's, Baltinglass. Blessington and Tinahely. (3 rounds). Round 1 - Blessington play at home to Tinahely. Round 2 - Blessington play away to Baltinglass. Round 3 - Blessington play away to St Pat's. Top 2 teams in each group in Semis. Bottom 4 for Shield.
U16 football had 8 teams also and were split into two groups also. Group 1 - Michael Dwyers, Eire Og Greystones, Carnew Emmets and St Pat's. Group 2 - AGB, St Nick's, Baltinglass and Blessington. (3 rounds). Round 1 - Blessington away to Baltinglass. Round 2 - Blesssington at home to AGB. Round 3 - Blessington away to St Nicks. Top 2 teams in each group in Semis. Bottom 4 for Shield. If there are a clash of colours the home team must change.
U14 hurling B Championship - This was undecided during the meeting. Fixture received after the meeting - Michael Dwyers away Tinahely.

U16's: The team finished their championship preparation with an excellent win against Baas on Fri evening. All focus is now on the first championship game against St Nicholas's on Mon night. In what is a very competitive group the team will be looking forward to a good start. We would ask club members to come out and support the U16's in Dunlavin at 19:15.
U16 County Development Squad: It's been a busy couple of weekends for the U16 County Football Development squad. They had an easy enough win on Sat 9 Aug against Kilmacud Crokes. Next up was the blitz last Sat in which they had a 1 pt loss to Kilkenny followed by a sizeable win against Wexford. Well done to Daniel Sarkauskas, Aaron Curran, Adam Boland and Jack Cotter who represent Blessington GAA on this squad.
Club Development: Pitch advertising is going very well, if you would like a sign on the pitch fencing please contact Breda Brophy 0872253892 or John Magee Snr 086 8717483 for all the info. Our Stewards are working very hard in the pitch during the week and we thank them all, it makes things much more safer for all our children, to have the lads there and we would ask everyone to show their appreciation. Lotto: Club Lotto draw took place on Tues 12th Aug. The numbers drawn were 4, 7,12,22. There was NO winner. 4 lucky people matched 3 numbers and received €75 each. Next draw is on Tues 26 Aug and the Jackpot will be €7400. All tickets must be returned by 10.30pm for draw at 11pm. Michael will be in the pitch at 7pm Tues if you wish to return to him. We thank you for your continued support returning your tickets and don't forget you can also buy tickets online at www.blessingtongaa.ie. All memberships are overdue but if you have any to hand in please give to Michael Sargent or John Magee Snr.

General club notes
· Well done to all our young members who received their Leaving Cert results last Wed. Everyone did very well. Good luck to you all whatever you choose to do in the future.

· Wicklow VEC have launched a new Gaelic Games & Gym Instruction Course in Bray Institute of Further Education as part of Kildare/Wicklow ETB aimed at GAA oriented students looking to have a career within Gaelic Games or in the fitness industry. Course is open to males and females of all ages. Course open to all club and county players, with leaving cert results coming out soon and mature students who are currently unemployed.
